Agency can't put you forward as you aren't working?

then are probably a qualified accountant and they may be thin on the ground so hence why you got interviews
Look, you seem to think that you know a lot more about how recruitment works than you actually do and reluctant to listen to advice.
Why must this person be qualified? Qualified Accountants are not thin on the ground anyway :rotfl:
This person probably got interviews because they are good at what they do, listen more than talk, take things on board, don't get defensive, have a positive attitude, the list goes on.0 -
I was asking if anyone had come across this and seems not the case ,so it's just me
I have worked in accounts 20 years and lost my job last year if that matters.
If you're not finding work either your CV is not getting you a look in or your interview technique is poor - both of which can be helped by a decent Consultant.
Also, you have my condolences with regards to the redundancy. That is never nice. I do often see people who have been at one company for a lifetime find it hard to settle elsewhere. They have a 'we always did it this way' attitude. That is a potential concern and something to be aware of to counter at interview.0 -

Been told I have a good CV. There are 400+ applying for each role. Even dumbed it down a bit too recently to have a few versions. How can interview technique be poor if you can't get them?0 -
Who has told you you have a good CV out of interest?
There will be a reason why you're not getting interviews.
You've already said 'id rather get the job myself and the 2 jobs I had interviews for this week were direct with the company so if I get any (prob not but still) it will be with no help from any agency'
So you come across as someone who really doesn't like or respect agencies, which is not going to make them want to work with you.
You have had interviews according to this post, so you interview technique may be poor, yet you don't seem to want to face up to this.
You've told me a few times how things work, yet you really don't know.
I doubt that there are 400+ people applying for every job, and you assumed that another poster must be qualified to have got a job. Sounds like you might be the kind of person who thinks that it's always other peoples' faults as to why you've not got a job. I might be wrong, but that's how it reads.0 -

you are right on all counts & I am unemployable
thanks for the help0 -
I dont think there are 400 people applying for every role.
I have just opened a big hotel. I had about 100 CVs for one role. I interviewed everyone who met the skills criteria required. That was 8.
We had agency help with the more senior positions, so interviewed 2-3 or so.
some roles were actually difficult to fill. We were not inundated with CVs even for Restaurant Manager etc.
Some roles were not even advertised. This is why it is critical to maintain strong relations with strong Recruitment Consultants and business contacts.0 -
yes ok you are right on all counts
thanks
This seems to be your stock answer on every post and thread that you take part in. If they don't agree with you, then you counteract with this unhelpful one-liner and then often follow it up with either deleting all of your posts or saying I'm off and I'm not coming back.
And then you wonder why you are not getting jobs??0
