Or did anyone else receiving one of the 'specially commissioned collectable London 2012 Olympic Games pin badges' think "What the..." and despair?

I'm sitting here in the freezing cold, terrified to put the heating on because of what it might cost me, and they're blowing money on commemorative chuffing pin badges.

Its pretty much the same with any 'incentive', those cheap energy monitors they give away have to cost them something and its all coming off the cost of the product they sell!. Of course the urine extraction with the Energy Monitor give away is that every household already has an highly accurate, precision energy monitor fitted, its called the Electricity Meter and we are already paying for its existance, either by a standing charge or higher first tier unit prices!. You really dont need another one, certainly not a 'free' plastic one whose cost is also being covered in the energy they supply.

I am so delighted not to be alone!

In addition, the damn advert being shown to promote these 'Thank You's seems to be getting more and more frequent. At prime time, these slots certainly won't come cheap, and the advertising probably cost far more than the 'thank you's' themselves.

I hope everybody is able to keep warm from the glow of happiness that this gives them, knowing that businesses like EDF are hemorrhaging money on these thank-you's and the advertising to promote them, at a time when bills are at their highest and forcing many into fuel poverty.

    I'd disagree.
Reading the 'normal' electricity meter is often - usually - inconvenient.
It's almost useless to answer the question 'how much power am I using right now' - as you need to go into the cupboard with a stopwatch - count the interval between flashes/rotations, and do some division.

Being able to see power used immediately as an appliance is turned on is handy!
Being able to see if the power when you're about to go to bed is not at the normal level is also useful, as it means you've left something on.
