Had to give MSE a miss yesterday due to a very busy and tiring day
I had so much so to do, plus issues with taps and then we DS1 had a friend over for dinner. Its his first time doing this (the autism makes friends and visits difficult) he is now in a specialist school so all the students have needs which is great as he no longer feels the odd one out. However arranging play dates can get complicated trying to make sure everyones needs are being met and trying to avoid any things which may unexpectedly upset someone. It all went well except that DS1 feel over and hurt his arm. I was worried at first it might be broken but he perked up so i just kept an eye on him. Long story short after friend went home DS1 wasn't right so we ended up taking him to hospital and didn't get back until early hours of this morning. Luckily no breaks but badly bruised and he is in a lot of pain. Its also the side he writes with/uses so that is causing problems. Kept him off school today so he could catch up on sleep and rest and I'm quite tired myself.
JulieG. Any more signs yet? :)can't wait to see the first piccies of the much awaited Roo.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Time for the catch up:D
JulieG. I have never thought about a BM, always enjoyed making by hand, great way to get rid of frustration:D but I will have a look at the thread as Im always open to ideas. Personally Im rubbish at portion control, the amount of waste from dinner last night was awful and i feel completely ashamed:o so this is yet another thing i must work on.
Alybaly Major congrats on bingo wins:T i never seem to win anything though i did manage to win £3 on a scratch card. I don't normally buy them but had brought some for bags of gold gifts at crimbo and had one gift left so thought why not. The scratch card had cost me £2 so only made £1 profit but its an extra £1 I hadn't excpected
Rising My shopping list was complete and managed to get everything for only half the weekly budget BUT OH had done the shop and he brought a few extras not on the list:( he just can't resist a bargain. He also used £10 of the allocated petrol money and brought himself some much needed new shoes. It was ok though because we hadn't needed all the allocated weekly petrol money due to using the car less last week than expected so I forgave him and we still have the needed full tank:D But now he tells me we need more car oil so I will have to see how I can fit that into nexts week budget.
Littlebitdizzy I can't believe how much you seem to get done:eek: I think you should rename yourself as little miss very busy:rotfl:
Sam Welcome to our friendly little corner of the MSE world:) and huge congrats on becoming DF:T
RE motivational chat I have to totally agree JG that this thread has made me realise that I am not as organised and savvy as I thought i was and that there is a whole list of things i can look at and tweek. Its great that after so many years as a DFW that there are still tips and things i am learning. But sometimes I feel like i am standing still whilst the rest of you are racing forward, my to do list is getting longer rather than shorter:o
RE pets, Its good to see Im not the only one with strange but wonderful furry companions. We have 4 cats all of which are from shelters or from people who didn't want them. One is 16 (almost 17) shes so skinny you can see her bones, yet eats very well, plus she dribbles all the time and finds it diffiuclt to clean herself, if you didn't know better and saw her sleeping you might think she was dead:eek:. But she is lively and can rip a piece of ham outta your hand in a blink of an eye. One is 13 almost 14 and he is a big girl who loves mint chocolate and tries to eat your hair if you have been swimming. He is a people cat and will sleep/sit across your chest/shoulder which considering his size is not that comfortable. As soon as we sit down he appears a few seconds later, he just always wants to be in our company. One is 11 and has OCD, verts have tried everything but she is basically bald on her back half. She has freaky human expressions which even freak the vet out and she only really likes me so avoids everyone else. The last one is a year old and we got him at six weeks in a horrendous condition. He is a huge boy now and very handsome but very frightened, even now he wants to be stroked but will often just hide. He is quiet and hates any doors shut but has the loudest purr I have ever heard.:D I think my home can offically be classified as nutty:rotfl:Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. QueenB I hope DS1 feels better soon, I have been at hospital many a times until 2/3am it's a nightmare! The playdate sounds like it went really well and with military precision. I bet your son will do a lot better in his new school
Nope, no signs... I get signs on and off for the last 2.5 weeks... so from now on the only sign I am waiting for is labour!
Pictures are a must! I will not waste time in getting them posted
I also enjoy making bread by hand, and that bread is much heavier and tastes wonderful... but for day to day a BM makes a loaf which is better and cheaper then the shops... and buy a slicing machine and you have decent loaves at a fraction of the cost!
I made the boys chilli last night do 8 portions... 450g of mince does 4 portions for a normal person, 6 for me normally... but my boys said it really doesn't lack meat... so it's all a bonus (and it's healthier... and most imprtant it saves money! For me portion control is more about saving money!) ££££££££
A cat that eats your hair when you've been swimming?!?!?!?! That's a new one! I am starting to wonder if there is such a thing as a normal cat?!?!?!
Anyway I am bored today... I have nothing left to do on my spreadsheet... I am almost tempted to add another 4 weeks to my meal plan just in case...! Bit to far on the OCPD????We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Haven't been able to do much in the last day but as Im at home today I have been able to check all my loyalty card balances. For some reason My Toys r us card is showing a 0 balance which i know isn't right so I will have to chase that up. Checked bank balances but for some reason I can't move the lose pound/pence balance into the savings so I will have to fix that. I found my booking emails for a club my boys do at the weekend. Before crimbo they had charged me £10 a class per son when it should have only been £5 each and then This month it turns out all classes where half price but when i booked online I had to pay full price:mad: When we spoke to the person at the classes he said to bring in the booking forms and he will refund so that should be £20 back:) plus from now on I'm booking through the shop to stop this happening again:cool:
May be an issue with my child tax credits so I need to phone about that...........basically a day of headaches:(Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

I used to bank with b@rclays (NEVER AGAIN!) but they never let me transfer less then £1... so I used to transfer £1.36... then transfer the £1 back again! Was a pain in the a$$ - could that be your problem though???We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Don't think it is. I was with the A&L and even after the take over I could access my account through their site. I was never allowed to transfer pence but if I have either under £5 or £10 i will transfer the pounds pence. Eg say my account says £152.32p would transfer £2.32p or if the account read £158.76p I would transfer £3.76p. I basically like my balance to end in a 0 or 5 ( OCD vs common sense:(). But since the start of the year I have to use the santandarling website and when i try and transfer all this stuff comes up and no transfer gets made. I have tried a few times and its making me a little irritated now I may literally just go down and do it in the actual bank building:mad:Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. I could kiss you QueenB you just made me feel normal!
I only transfer money into my ISA in multiples of £5!!! If I have a few more £££ or ppp I have a 'pot' where it sits and builds up! I have never admitted this to anyone but my DH (who thinks I am bonkers and just pats me on the head and says 'yes dear')We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. This thread is brilliant, I read it every lunchtime but rarely have time to post but it is keeping me motivated
I too have 'strange' pets. My cat is small and can't retract her claws well so tends to get attached to everything and yowls and hisses when you try to unattach her! She rarely miaows but will just sit by her dish and stare at everyone until someone notices and feeds her.
We also have a lab who only ever barks when he is locked in the back garden and wants in the house - maybe it's the amount of noise the rest of us make has made the animals quiet.
DD1 who is 17 was very excited as she went shopping at the local charity shop yesterday and got herself a new-looking suede jacket for £2! It is a brilliant shop with no affiliations so the prices tend to be a lot lower than the shops of the well known charities. DH got a leather flying jacket there at the weekend for £3. I think a lot of people are clearing out at the moment.0 -
