The shopping list is ready to rock and roll:D Only 19 items on it and 3 of those are for the cats, but that will be bulk so once this shop is done I won't have to buy cat food for at least a month. Did a massive kitchen check and so most meals will come out of our supplies so not much to buy. I even put some fresh orange in a little pot for Fridays sweet n sour meal so that it won't get drunk making me buy more:cool: Found some bread mix so I will bake a batch of rolls and use those therefore reducing the amount of bread we need to buy (we go through lots of bread:(). Still lots of goodies left over from crimbo so the kids will be fine for at least a month and found some other bits and bobs which will be great for their lunches. All this should mean I should't have to use even half of this weeks food budget and whats left can be put towards a big bulk buy shop next week.
The to do lists are ready........do you fellow list lovers get a wonderful feeling as you make each item off? I get such a sense of achievement when i see a completed list:o
I will put my list of 2012 goals up tomorrow........I printed them off earlier this week and have them up so I can see them everyday but I keep thinking of more to add so I have to be strong and limit myself.
I have spent quite a bit of time today looking into ISAs more and I am going to open one...........now I just have to decide on one and get my head round all the small details.
Dizzy Like JG I am an awful patient and hate being still. After DS2 i lost so much blood they wanted to give me a transfusion. I refused and went home, I was on Iron and told not to leave my bed for 6 weeks as it would take that long for my red blood cells to rebuild especially as I was breast feeding. Well less than 2 weeks later I was up and walking round Leeds castle:eek: My doc wasn't impressed.
Rising I really hope your foot feels better soon hun, though was wondering if it is safe to drive with a numb foot:) When I make spag bol I always use the usual onions, mushrooms etc and then add carrots and celery.
JulieG. Is the curry working yet? I'm sorry to hear about the iron blowing up where you using it at the time? I love the toastie idea I'm always looking for ways of using up those little bits of mince based dishes.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Rising I have a spending diary on the spreadsheet for the credit card. But maybe by the end of 2012 you can be ahead instead of owing yourself, I think putting the savings aside now will see you achieve that goal because you seem very determined. I used to do it your way too, but now when DH get’s paid at the end of December it pays January’s bills and goes into all the pots ‘groceries’ ‘petrol’ etc.
Only time I owe myself is if I have to take money out of our ‘actual savings’ I will wait until the CC Bill is through and then move it out to gain maximum interest before spending my savings.
I love it when people try my shepherds pie toasties… so many turn their nose up at the idea… but my DH and DS both get upset when I give them shepherds pies and want to know why we can’t just have toasties for a week!
QueenB have you tried a BM to save you money on bread? Look at this post I did once which gives you the cost of a loaf! Could save a fortune instead of buying, especially if you bulk buy the flour when it’s 3 for 2!
I am so pleased you have a list of goals too! Yay!
Nope! The curry didn’t work… but I just had a craving for it because people kept mentioning it… I never thought it would actually work though
DH was using the iron…, lucky it was inside the iron and it just stopped working after that… the boys went to Church with creased trousers (the shirts had been done)! I’ve had the iron longer then I’ve been with DH (6 years) so I’m impressed! We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. The roast beef was yummy. I too have eaten more than 'a portion'. I seem to be missing that cut of switch that trips in normal peoples tummies once they get full :EasterBun
Today I have achieved:- Opened new joint savings account for savings. Old joint savings will become the Mr T Credit Card repayment pot.
- Sorted out old paperwork, filed the rest.
- Got rid of cards / chq books relating to closed accounts.
- Slight tweaking of the spreadsheets & targets. Will post soon, just want to check again in the morning...
- Business accounts and bills up to date
- Paid HMRC. Got to keep them happy!
- Found a cheque for £7.22 which was DH's dividend from Santander shares. Nice surprise and ready for plonking into the savings account tomorrow!
- Listed 5 items on Fleabay.
- Written 2 birthday cards inc one with cash for niece. (What do you get a 7 yr old who's birthday is 3 weeks after Christmas?)
- Coooked some bloomin' fabby Yorkshire puds and have favourably approved this rather nice bottle of Syrah Malbec which is now open

Dizzy I am terrible ref. portion control, I serve everything in correct portions and pot up leftovers while serving up dinner! No extra sized portions in our house... no seconds either! No bl00dy wonder i've lost weight *sigh*
Well done on achieving so much today! You put me to shame, as I spend too much money and had a long chat with my sister in Germany and went for a walk in the park! Oh but I did get a refund from the Church for some things I bought before Christmas (as I am the flower co-ordinator!).We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Is that how you lost weight? I noticed in an earlier post that you've lost masses, ao well done to you. I need [STRIKE]a gastric band [/STRIKE] motivation and advice. :rotfl:
I did Slimming World 3 yrs ago and lost over 2 stones, it's gradually all gone back on though and I keep meaning to start it again, but falling off the wagon so to speak. It can also be expensive if you're not careful.I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
Evening everyone, anyone got a dinner invite for me ? All sounds lovely.
Well my achievement today has been
1. Downloaded the spreadsheet (yes I actually did it) :j
2. Bought 2 new tyres for the car, we were left with a flat tyre on Friday:eek:
3. Won £400 at bingo, its my one night a week out with my mum and we have won £800 in the last 2 weeks but its not always like that. :T
Soooooooo next thing is to start filling in the spreadsheet. The money paid for the tyres was paid from the win and still have some left over which will be going in my Christmas pot !
Baby Roo where are you? We are waiting to see you .January

dizzy I lost weight in many different ways but it's been consistant for 3 years (with one period of weight gain when I was having infertility tests!). The truth is there is so much I have learned it's hard to tell someone else how to lose weight without writing an essay! But basically I started with portion sizes and learned about what was right and wrong, and started walking 15 minutes a day. Then I had to overcome emotional eating and work out why i ate, and learn how to re-programme myself to pay attention when I ate, and concentrate on my food and for the first time in life enjoy it. By which time I was able to walk 5 miles a day. Then I was diagnosed with Insulin Resistance and a few other conditons (Insulin Resistance is a Pre-diabetic condition) and through that i learned a lot about nutrition and had to adopt a Low GI/GL diet to control the condition to allow me to sucessfully carry a baby!
My Dr and my Midwife (and the Diabetic Midwife) have all commented on how much I understand about nutrition and I could be a dietition.
I have reversed my health conditions and have them under control and maintaining them. Which in turn controls my weight.
My top tips are... stop dieting, start walking, eat slowly, enjoy every mouthful... and go live life without worrying about your weight.
If you diet you are setting yourself up to fail... I eat anything I want, just if I want chocolate I only need 2 bites and that's it (really) I never deny myself anything. You see dieting effects the part of the brain that controls willpower... so you end up with less willpower and bing eat!
I may want to loose more weight, but the truth is before I fell pregnant I was happy with the way I looked... if I loose weight that's great! If I don't I have learned to accept myself as I am... and I don't worry about it at all anymore, and I really think that's the secret. I lost 7 stone on Lighterlife , weight has more or less steadied since then although I am trying to lose a stone for the end of March as I am going to a wedding.
My biggest tip is don't weigh yourself. I know by my clothes if I have put on or lost and it makes me less obsessed with the 1lb on 1lb off, works for me xxxJanuary

Aly, is Lighter Life the one where you have soups and shakes for a period of time? I honestly don't think I could do that, I love food too much. But good for you losing 7 stone, that's an amazing achievement!
JG, thanks for the tips. I've been thinking that stopping dieting is the best way to lose weight IYKWIM. I've been reading a book too called on a similar theme and it does all make a lot of sense, I just have to actually do it and I'd love to lose 2 stone before our holiday in April. Cutting it fine, but I'll see what I can do.
Well done on the win by the way, I've only ever done bingo once. My life, they go soooooo quickly!I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0
