and here was me thinking that you would all have given me a hard time for having a credit card!
tbh I haven't a clue if I have the "best" credit cards (I have 2!) but they seem to work for me.
I have an AM£X (higher % on supermarket spends) and a M@stercard (for those that dont accept AM£X).
I totally understand those that dont yet (or never will) use credit cards, I think when it comes to money you have to do what works for you.
Off to watch a bit of TV since I have the house to myself, I really should go and sort a cupboard or something, but hey its so rare to have the house to myself!!Debt Free Roll of Honor #598

I've been the other way round, LianneH, there has been no sitting down for me tonight (until now when I'm about to head off to bed anyway) though I am home alone.
The doglet has gone on her holidays for a few days to my parents, so in between working on my assignment (the reason I arranged for her to go away for a few days) I am madly sorting cupboards etc whilst I have the house to myself as otherwise she "helps" too much (or strops if I leave her out of it).
In positive MS news, I sorted the food cupboard today and though there is a lot of dry stuff that is past its BBE date, there wasn't anything past it's use by date so I haven't had to throw anything away. I have loads of pasta in various shapes and forms (3 bags of macaroni!!!!why???) and plenty of rice to keep me going for ages and even better, the whole cupboard is back to being grouped by food type so I have some idea of what is in there and what I already have loads of when menu planning.
SOT xDebt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

We don't have any now but one day we are going to have to borrow money again for something. I have read Martin's article on repairing credit ratings but right now neither myself or Mrs Mort are ready for that particular step.Proud to have dealt with my debts, became debt free on 03/11/2011. SOT - You'll be spending less then £5 a week this month with the amount of food you have left!
Li - CC are only good if you know you are able to control that impulse to spend money on it without thinking... and you know you have the money to pay it back in full. Otherwise I think it's best tot stay clear of it... I have a friend who paid £1200 off her credit card debts last month... after half term her statement showed £300 drop from the month before (please don't ask me what she spent £900 on in a week!!)... point is... she shouldn't have a CC!!
Mort - I still have not read that article... I can't find it! But it is how I rebuilt my credit score... I have a perfect one now

It's here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cards/bad-credit-credit-cards#rebuild
How long did it take to rebuild your credit score? I must really check mine out some time. I was turned down for a loan when our boiler broke but when I opened a Jacamo account they gave me some credit, about a tenth of what the new boiler cost but I have not used it:DProud to have dealt with my debts, became debt free on 03/11/2011. Mort - I had my lightbulb moment in 2003... when i checked in 2006 it was pretty good... although i had a lot of debt, I managed to get a consolodation loan with very high interest which I swapped to lower interest in 2006... and didnt go onto DMP or default more then a few payments. I was lucky, so its hard to compare.
Sorry I cant be more help
