Both of these should see you through. Sounds like you have a definite plan to pay your debts off, good luck.

Thanks Mort. I am determined to make it work. I am so fed up with having no money left the day after pay day.

It will be a long slog but here goes :D

    Many thanks for your support

I was able to scrape my way out of a debt ridden situation thanks to my wonderful wife.
After spending years living off credit I'm now all over my financial situation.
I have 3 years until my default notices are removed, but I have access to 2500 in credit via 2 cc Vanquis :( and cap1 altho they are very very rarely used cant remember the last time I used my overdraft.
I will admit that I occasionaly purchase something on a cc just for the thrill of paying it off. Sad really its amazing what turns you on once you have lived like I was!

In fact .... if I say there is one day a year when it's a bit noisy ...... that's about as close as I can get to me I think!

(edited now Li's read it as I think it maybe gave TMI!)

    :rotfl::rotfl:

Rising you are nuts! I think I may have guessed - not sure though cause by this time in the day the old brain isn't working too well!

Wouldn't it be funny if we knew each other? In fact, no it wouldn't i would be mortified!! :rotfl:

Been staring at my spreadsheet again, a few updates for petrol spends but thats it.

For about 6 months now I have been buying everything on a cash back credit card, and because I'm OCD about my spreadsheets, I've been keeping track of spends and then transfering the money each day from my Current account to a separate account, and then paying the credit card off in full.

Cash back is up to about £60 - easiest money I have every made! I know this might make a few of you squeemish but if you only spend your normal spending, it really is easy money! but if you are tempted to spend on other stuff, then DONT EVEN TRY IT!! wouldn't want you all getting into debt and that being on my shoulders! lol

    Hi everyone

I do use my CC routinely for all my budgeted food and petrol. I transfer the budgeted amount into my "Credit Card" savings account on pay day, so I can't spend it by mistake, and pay off in full every month. If I spend anything extra on my CC then I transfer the money to pay for it to the same savings account that night. That way when my bill arrives I have all the money sat ready to pay it in full.

I don't have a cash back card, but on average I spend £350, and I worked it out as being fairly borderline as to whether a cash back card would be better, or stick with my current CC, which gives me a fiver every month as long as I spend £300 on it.

Maybe I need to check out the deals again though?

Happy days here for me as I have finished work this afternoon and not back till the 19th. I have an OU assignment to do, but I also have some cupboards to tidy, and I really want to inventory my main food cupboard - after the freezer experience I dread to think how many bags of pasta I have lurking behind the cereal

Hello everyone, need a bit of a kick up the behind as i am so unorganised this month:( freezer is looking empty, no monthly meal plan, no recent batch cooking and spreadsheets looking very messy:eek: not sure why Im like this at the moment but need to really get motivated.

BIB Im glad you had a great trip.

JulieG some great charity finds, I remember my DD first birthday outfit being a satin pink dress with cap and bloomers, she looked amazing but cost me £10 from the market. Being a teenage parents and at college meant that most of my DD baby clothes came from CS.

RE birthdays, its DS1 13th birthday in a few weeks. Like yourself I have wanted to make it special (not easy due to his autism) but we have only spent just over £100, brought lots in sales and taking him to legoland using CC vouchers. The day before we are having family over and just having a buffet and fun at home and then he will also go to the cinema with a friend. As we are on holiday the week after his birthday I have also got tickets for the Eden project using CC vouchers which he will enjoy. When I think of how much I spent on DD 13th I feel such shame and I know he will have a better time.

Just got his DLA renewal form through, not even 2 years since we last applied, I hate those forms and I hate filling them in, I get so frustrated, the system is so unfair and adds extra stress to parents who already live with high stress. The whole breaking our life down to minutes and seconds it just idiotic:mad: I didn't apply for years (part of the reason we are now in debt) but finally realised that actually his life is enriched thanks to that extra money and when the statistics show that only about 30% of autistic adults have any type of work (normally part time) saving some of that money will help both us, and him support him in later life. Sorry I will finish my rant now its just so frustrating and stressful, both as a professional and parent I know the reality of the situation and wish government actually had a realistic clue.

    Right enough now.......i promise:o

So kick up the bottom welcome:D

I do the same with credit cards. I have two!!!

    1) MrT - for CC points - All my spending goes on this apart from MrS spending.
    2) MrS - Double Points on all spends in MrS for 2 years!!

I set the money aside in a 'Credit Card Pot' and pay them off in full each month... I get us treats with the CC Points. I use Nectar points on my shopping, and the money I save on the food shop I take out of the food budget and put in my charity shop purse :)

So the last £20 on CS finds were technically free :D

QueenB Sounds like DS will have a great birthday x

I hope things look up for you soon ((hugs))

Ohhhhh might have to look into that, ta:) TBH I've been thinking about it recently as don't really have any "benefits" with the card I have :( and I put absolutely everything on my card.

I'm slightly different in the way I work as I put money into various pots on payday, where it sits until I get the cc bill in and then I transfer relevant amounts back to pay the card in full.

I just hate (as I know many of us do) the thought of another credit check....
