Personally I am terrified of needles and can't cope with blood tests. I feel such an idiot when I am sitting there shaking and crying especially as DS1 has had regular blood tests since he was 9 days old and will all his life (used to be every 2 weeks now if all medication is ok its 2/3 times a year).
Thankfully blood tests / needles don't bother me at all - just as well as the meds I'm on for my Crohn's can affect your liver so have to have them fairly regularlyAlso terrified of heights, even clinbing a ladder is too much for me:o
Ahhhhh, another slight weakness of mine:o (although I am considerably better than I used to be) - I can now get up a set of ladders OK ..... it's just I can't get down again!
It's funny (and probably lucky) that we're all different - I'm frequently asked to catch & remove spiders in the office:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

My OH hates spiders so its me who normally deals with them:D now ants are a different matter I hate ants, not scared of them so much as they make me angry:o:)
Ok after looking at things I might not open a Junior ISA for the boys, I'm put off by the fact that they get complete access to the money at 18 so can spend it straight away on anything they like. Whilst I hope DS2 would be responsible DS1 learning difficulties mean this could be an issue. So I mighttake Martins advice and open an ISA in my name but as a way to save for them giving me more flexibility.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. I have been looking at Junior ISAs I was just wondering if anyone else on this thread was considering them as an option? I have never been in a position to save for the kids, barely in a position to save for us because of the debts but now I am looking for an option to be able to do that. MIL has a small amount saved for them and because of complications with the way that account is going to be working in the future she wanted to know if i had an account for the boys so she could transfer the whole lot over. I don't but I did tell her I have been looking at the new junior ISAs. I would have to have a monthly DD set up as no way I could afford a lump sum to invest, especially when looking at an ISA for myself. So what do you guys think? Isa or regular kids saver account?
When I had my DD it was Child trust funds that were the "thing" and you would invest the £250 the government gave you with the idea of setting up a DD into the account so that by the time they were 18 they would have a nice wee nest egg.
I invested the £250, but didnt then set up any regular savings after a discussion with my friend....
we came to the conclusion that savings are a good thing, but by the time our little ones become 18 and have full access to the cash, they might not be "ready" for such a large (lol) sum of money, but you wouldn't have any control over it as it would be legally theirs to do as they wished. so if they wanted to go and buy bottles of cider instead of putting a deposit down on a starter flat or going to uni, they could! I believe the JISA's work in a similar way (except the £250 from the government).
In the end I decided to open a normal savings account (in my name), but not instant access, and save regularly into this and when I feel she is "ready" for some cash, I will have more control over when that will be and how much. Doing it this way, is not obviously the best tax way I suppose but I would be happy to forgo that for feeling more in control about when my little lady could handle a cash injection!

Thanks thats the conclusion I seem to be coming to. Neither of my boys got the £250 from the government, DS2 was born just before the brought it in:( So do you have a savings account for Dd aswell or just the one in your name for her?Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. arrrrrgggghhhhhh - I have my cc min payment set up on d/debit (just in case;)) but do pay in full each month.
It looks like they've called the d/debit on the same day I've set up the full payment to go out and the d/debit amount is showing as being deducted from my account on Monday (even though the full amount was paid on Thursday:mad:).
It annoys me that they call them so early - is it 3 working days before they're paid?
If anyone knows, that would be great as I seem to keep "falling foul" of this.
..... so that's just under £17 I wasn't expecting to come out my account:mad: this month.
Not sure what I'm going to get up to today .... was hopefully going to see a dog but the woman's never got back to me (probably meaning she's already rehomed it - but she could at least have let me know:mad:).
Don't need much shopping and horrible outside ..... mmmmmm
Have a great Saturday everyone!:)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Absolutely no idea, I never did get the hang of paying them at the right time.rising_from_the_ashes wrote: »..... so that's just under £17 I wasn't expecting to come out my account:mad: this month.
Using my pre MSE days logic I would have considered this as £34 available for me to spend.rising_from_the_ashes wrote: »Not sure what I'm going to get up to today .... was hopefully going to see a dog but the woman's never got back to me (probably meaning she's already rehomed it - but she could at least have let me know:mad:).
That's so annoying. Do you have a kennel nearby? Some of them house dogs for the RSPCA and rehome as well.rising_from_the_ashes wrote: »Don't need much shopping and horrible outside ..... mmmmmmProud to have dealt with my debts, became debt free on 03/11/2011. Repaid £54,723.41 LBM May 2006.

I only have one in my name. I also deposit into this account for when she gets birthday and christmas money and I use the money sometimes for big expenses for her. Summer holiday clothes or last year we bought her some garden toys from it as she got loads of birthday money. I did feel a bit strange about doing this but after talking to my mum she convinced me that people would be happy that their money was going towards something that DD would use and enjoy.

Aww Rising thats a nightmare!
I dont have any direct debit set up for repayment to allow me to have complete control. This is VERY risky if you don't keep on top of the payment dates though - so not recommended if your not OCD about your CC!
I've never missed a payment and I have had one of my credit cards for over a year.
Thats a shame about a dog, is there a particular breed you are looking for? Maybe seeing the Pandas might make up for it a wee tiny bit!?
having a relaxing day today, feeling a bit down as had a letter from hospital saying that baby 2 is high risk of having downsyndrome. trying to take my mind off of it by floating about the boards!

The reason I set up the d/debit for the minimum was .... many years ago I had huge problems with mail at one of my old addresses, didn't receive a statement for something on HP, totally forgot about it as it was one of these no payments for 6 months/free interest things .... and ended up with a default.
I am now much more in controlbut, if I didn't receive the cc bill, I'm not 100% sure I'd remember until I'd missed that month's payment as it's pretty early in the month.

Hopefully a Lab (really as I've always had them & understand/know the breed well) - I would consider some other breeds but there are a lot I wouldn't have as I don't think they'd fit my own circumstances.... fingers crossed it's not too much longer as really struggling esp now it's lighter in the mornings & after work....
Yup, really looking forward to seeing the Pandas!:)
I know this is much easier said than done, but please try not to worry about your baby ..... (((hugs)))Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
