  • I traded in £264 worth of goods on 1 Feb 2012. After getting no response to my emails or phone calls and reading this forum, I went through the small claims court on 8th March and the cheque for my goods together with the court fees of £25 cleared today. I felt I had no option but to do this as it is a huge amount of money to lose.

I am hoping that everybody else gets their money - I was reluctant to take them to court initially because I didn't want to harm a small business but the lack of contact left me no option. Good luck everybody.
  • I think they are obviously having trouble dealing with the sheer amount of cds/dvds/games that people are sending in!! I would go elsewhere until this company can get their act together!

I sent them £140 worth of DVDs and CDs on the 30th of January and heard nothing. So about three weeks later i sent an email to which i got no reply. I sent two further emails and just received the generic automatic reply about the numbers they've recieved and training up staff. That was now a month ago and i've heard nothing since... admittedly i haven't bombarded them with emails but somehow feel I shouldn't have to do that... I have now decided I am going to file to the small claims court... the rubbish thing is i have to wait till next friday before doing that as I can't afford the fee until payday!!! I've waited 8 weeks so another shouldn't hurt... I honestly hope i get the same result as some of you!!! =)
  • I've applied for my small claims case this week too. Having sent my CDs and DVDs off on 05/01/12, tried calling and emailing with no joy, I came on here for advice and decided to take the legal route.

Good luck to everyone else and I'll let you know how I get on!

If you are owed money, file the claim before they go bust.

And if they go bust you can wave goodbye to the money you are owed.
  • Hi there can you please tell me where you sent the letter too and what to put in it. i sent my parceel 18th jan and still havent recieved anything it, my status is still awaiting parcel, which i find very hard to believe. i would really appreciate your help. many thanks :-)
    Hi there.

I just thought to let you know what has been happened after I read this forum but I dont want to reply until I get what I should have.

I sent out the dvds to turnintocash between christmas and new year, then they have stated that they have recieved the parcel around Jan time I think. I gave them a call to find out what is going on with the dvds etc, and they said that they have struggling with backlog of parcels over xmas and will sort it out also said will send out the cheque next week - which never has turned up after a phone call I made on 16th Jan and tried again few times they are ringing out.

So I had called Consumer Direct for their advice and I wrote a formal letter to them to explain that they are in breach of contract by not sending us a cheque within 7 days and find out what has going on with dvds and wanted to know where is my money? By recorded signed for last monday, then recieved £78 cheque yesterday!! Whoo hoo. I suggest you do the same for this one.
  • I hope they've stopped taking trades until they've sorted their backlog.

Nope, it seems they are still accepting trades, but of the 10 items I've randomly put into the system 9 come up as 10p (even a brand new CD) and the 10th doesn't register. So they are taking trades, but paying stupid amounts hoping that people don't bother.

I hope everyone gets there money considering the scale of the issue could upset a lot of people. I sold a lot of my old DVD's on Ebay and madegood money on most of them. Much mroe of a return than on Magpie.

Just need to be prepared to let things go on an auction and take a chance.

Saying that though my DVD collection was quite old so don;t know how more new current stuff will sell.

We sent off a box with a 'value' of £33.21, which they claim is still awaiting receipt, RM have refused to pay out on a lost item claim as their rules changed in Jan and this item is no longer covered.

I shall initiate a small claim.
