I have had years of great service, cashback etc from my Egg card, I hate Barclays with a passion so I have gone for the Capital One World Mastercard to replace it.. I am wondering if we will get the cashback already earned with Egg mine is almost £200 already.0

I believe they only pay out in March, so you'll have to keep the account through to then. The max they'll pay in a year is £200. Don't forget however that the card still offers the additional insurances, which I've not seen elsewhere (missed event cover and extended warranty).0 -
I won't be using the Barclaycard - after years of good service from egg and being able to access statements easily on line etc I'm now in the situation where my usual DD payment of full balance was bounced back just before the change over period. No, it wasn't because of insufficient funds in the bank account!
So I ring Barclaycard - you're not going to believe this. The nearly £500 that didn't go through is collecting interest. (this has to be the fault of barclaycard or egg and something to do with transferring business over to barclaycard since this is the first time it's ever happened to me in over a decade )
Better still - I cannot pay this amount in full until 15 November at the earliest!
I cannot pay anything into the credit card until that date.
So they messed up, they are refusing to accept any payments until 15th but they are charging interest on nearly £500.
They did say I could ring up the premium telephone line after the 15th and I might be able to get the interest refunded - it took 31 minutes of premium call to get that information out of them.
They wouldn't give me a freephone number to use and I won't be able to get phone charges refunded - so I have to pay phone and interest charges to pay off a bill that I shouldn't have had to pay in the first place if they hadn't messed up the automatic direct debit.
I can just wait for the full amount to come out of my bank account automatically in December, but the interest charges will be horrendous by then - so I'm going to have to make that phone call to the overseas call centre and hope I get someone I can actually understand.
Barclaycard is going to be making a lot of money if other people are in the same situation - it stinks.
Is this even legal?
Oh, the other problem. All records of my credit card and past statements have vanished from my egg money page and Barclaycard don't have the statements going back very far on their page - I'm not used to having financial statements disappear into the ether like this - not happy at all.
I managed to get Barclaycard to agree to send me paper statements for the egg card but they would only do it for transactions since August 2011 - in future my days of going paperless to save the planet are over!0 -
Just a thought - with egg/barclaycard messing up my automatic 'payment in full' DD at the end of October, then no payment at all was made. Not even the minimum.
This is new territory for me. Will this affect my credit rating/history?
I didn't even know all this was going on (or not going on!) since my credit card information vanished from the egg website and I've only just today been able to log onto the Barclaycard website.
So even if I had spotted what was happening when I was looking at my bank account (and I'm checking for unexpected transactions, not checking if automatic DD's that have been paid every month for years have gone through)
I don't think there is anything I could have done about it since no payments can be made anyway until 15 November
How are Barclaycard able to operate like this? Isn't there some regulation that would stop them doing this to people?0 -
Well, since my Egg card went over to Barclaycard they very kindly stopped my card altogether so i can no longer use it. Yes, I have a balance outstanding on it, but one that was being paid off regularly. But they did a credit score on it before the switch over and decided I wasnt up to scratch. they didnt have the courtesy to tell me this, I had to find out by getting my card refused. Not impressed. Rubbish customer service.0

Like TwistedPysco, i have an Egg card which is deactivated but I am still paying a monthly minimum. I was about to ask for statements to investigate a claim, what do you think the chances might be/ I have received no communication from Egg or Barclaycard0
