Perhaps we could limit the thread to just having single post ideas from users, and then ask people to thank the ones they like the most so we can gauge popularity.
We're a forum. The power of the forum is the number of contributors. The best ideas are likely to come out in discussion.
Given that there's a Site Feedback Board, why not have a thread for each suggestion?0 -
I had a play around changing the surround colours via css on Saturday, but never really found a (even pastel) shade that didn't look distinctly 'icky' against the current colour scheme? But then, I'm no designer, so others ma have better luck with that.
But my gut feeling would be to switch the blue and the green of the current pastel green RGB colour. Would this not give the "equivalent" pastel blue?0 -

Would give this sort of contrast.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I like that, personally, fermi. Thanks for the screenshot.
Which quotes would get the new colour? Where the OP quotes a different user or where a different user quotes the OP?0 -
The quotes getting coloured as well was a side effect of the quick hack of the CSS I did to try the colour change.
Not got a clue if MSE would want to change quote box colours along with the other elements?
A point to bear in mind though.
Would you? :-
- Want to change quote boxes in the OP's posts along with the other border elements?
- Want to change the colour of quote boxes where it is the OP being quoted by others to highlight those in a thread as well?
I would think the 2nd of those would be more technically difficult to implement than other changes that have been discussed, and while it might be somewhat useful I'm not sure it would justify the effort. Also has the potential to just make things look messy rather than being of real help.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

your choice of color looks lovely fermi, but as an idea to change the color of hte panel totally just doesn't appeal to me at all
the op is going to be highlighted and considering that we're often told that no thread belongs to us, why should there be any exclusivity for posts
If I'm honest, I quite liked how the team originally came up with, the same celeste green; all that needed was to make the quote distinctive, may be with an outline. Alternatively the second one is to invert color (to make it colorless, with the quote having the default color) as in my screenshots that I've linked to (here). Rightly or wrongly I get the feeling that anything else is going to stick out like a sore thumb if you'd forgive my expression.0 -
I've obviously missed something here, but what is the purpose of highlighting who the OP is?0

I think someone confessed that sometimes THEY forget they started a thread, so it would remind them as well.
There's a link to the original thread where it was suggested, somewhere ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
