Sorry to bother with queries again, but does anyone have experience with dylon machine dyes?
Hi everyone
I have recently thought about using some fabric dye to give some items of clothing a new lease of life... do they work?
Many thanks in advance.

Yes, it works. Only it probably won't come out entirely one shade, and it will never be entirely colour fast, and if the dye says it's enough for 2 lb of clothing that really is all it will do and you won't get good results if you think "Oh, I'm sure I can just throw in this extra vest / t-shirt / blouse."
Also check your fabrics: some dye better than others, and any 'trims' may well 'take' the dye in a completely different way to the main fabric.
And you can't go from dark to light, and if your original garments are anything other than white, results may vary widely. EG a pale pink vest and a pale yellow vest both put in dark blue dye won't, IME, end up the same shade.
Now, maybe I just didn't follow instructions well enough in those days, but forever after I had to be very careful about NOT leaving my damp grandad vests lying around with anything else. And also very careful not to wash them with my best white undies. Or my dad's best white undies ... or work shirts ...
Actually I bet there's a whole dye-ing thread somewhere on this board ... but in case there's not, if you use your washing machine for dyeing make sure you run it empty at least once afterwards, won't you? :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Thanks Savvy_Sue, I was thinking of dyeing some faded black clothing, black! I have some work clothes that have seen better days (trousers mainly) and I'd hoped that dyeing them would perk them up a bit! Suppose there's no harm in trying! Yes, I'll be careful to run the machine a couple of times afterwards so I don't end up with dozens of other things in "grey"!! :rotfl:
Thanks again for your help x

Do you have sesame seeds on hand?
If so you just need to blend them with oil,http://homecooking.about.com/od/condimentrecipes/r/blcon110.htm
If it's for tomorrow night, can you just buy some tomorrow? All comments and advice given is my own opinion and does not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.

Been given a Asda's carrier bag full of green beans from my neighbors allotment. I have shelled them and now got them in a bowl, but I don't know what to do next. Can I freeze and save them, do I need to cook them first?
He said he is going to give me a bag of Kidney beans as well next week, so same question there, what do I do with them, can I freeze them
Sorry if my questions sounds stupid I'm such a novice when it comes to cooking. I lived on take-aways and ready meals before I had children. They are 3 & 5yrs old and love vegetable and I'm trying to cook from scratch as much as possible but so far most of the veg has come from tins:o0 -
There are some step by step instructions here for you - http://www.pickyourown.org/beansfreezing.htmAll comments and advice given is my own opinion and does not represent the views or advice of any debt advice organisation.

Anyone have any ideas on how to use up lots of jam? I'm in a shared house and we've been clearing out our fridge - found several jars of jam that belonged to ex housemates. Hate to throw it away but none of us eat enough of it and it's taking up space:rolleyes:
