Hi - not sure anybody can help on this one: just finished painting with an oil-based F& B paint and hands are covered and brush needs cleaning, and just discovered we have run out of paintbrush cleaner.
Is there anything else i could use - tried soap and water and sticky mess. Now dry on hands but want to save my brush really. Any kitchen things someone could suggest - vinegar, salt, lemon juice, anything? I can't easily get out at the mo. to get some more.

Put a good squirt of washing up liquid into your sink.

Work the paint brush into it until you've got it all thoroughly mixed.

Turn the cold tap on low to a slow trickle and keep working the paintbrush in the messy washing up liquid as it slowly thins down with the water that's been added.

Finally - turn your tap on fairly high and stick the brush under the tap bristle end UP and gently work the bristles with your fingers until the water coming off the brush runs clear.

Washing up liquid on its own should get your hands clean - but if not - add a good pinch of salt and keep going :)

I know sugar & WUL make a good cleaner for mechanic's mucky mitts if that's any help!

Any OS/MS ideas for fly repellent please? They use our light-fitting as their local meeting place & it drives us NUTS! We've a net to put at the door but I'm a belt-n-braces sorta gal when it comes to these little blighters:p & the newly-purchased fly thingy was four quid a pop.....

Also cleaning ideas for a 'pleather' suite that doesn't involve aerosols or citrus.... allergies unfortunately:o
    TIA

    Morning All!
I have the following leftover from a recipe and was wondering if and how I can freeze them please?

Fresh Coriander - can I just cut the stalk with leaves off the plant and bag and freeze?

    Low fat yoghurt

Tomato puree - about 2/3 can - if this freezes do I need to defrost before using or can I put it directly into recipe?

    Many thanks in advance. :)

I'd cut the leaves off the stalk too, just to make it easier to put just leaf rather than leaf and stalk into your next recipe.
    Low fat yoghurt
This will separate on defrosting, but I think you can freeze it for use in cooking as long as it doesn't have to look pretty pretty. Mind you I bet Squeaky will come along with his fancy button to find 'freezing yoghourt' threads in a tic!

I can't see why it wouldn't freeze: I'd do it in two blobs or in ice cube trays (which will be red forever after!) and if I was cooking on the hob I'd definitely just lob it in. I wouldn't put it in a dish to bake in the oven without defrosting first.
Signature removed for peace of mind
  • If I make a curry with a lidle sauce which contains yoghurt can I freeze what's left?

    Thanks

Hi everyone on this snow covered afternoon!

I have a question. On Thursday I took out a black shirt to wear to work and noticed that the sleeves had a white film on it, a bit like very fine powder. I've also noticed the same stuff on my black trousers; the front top half. It does brush off but as it's happened a few times now, I'm getting curious.

Any ideas what could cause that?
