:hello: Me again!
Trying to keep the shopping down - can I use Stork instead of butter for things like Banana Bread and Twinks Hobnobs, or do they really need butter? (I could save 71p on 1 Kg  ) Or even Tescos Value Soft Spread?
Thanks0 -

Afternoon all,
I was hoping that someone on here wold be my saviour. My DD15 is veggie and wants me to find a recipe for veggie burgers that she likes. I have cooked a few over the last couple of months and the only thing that i find is wrong with them is the texture. I usually make the main ingredient beans of some type then have grated carrot and breadcrumbs and seasoning then grill or fry. I hate the fact that they are so soggy, is there a recipe that exists for a veggie burger that produces a meaty firm burger?
Thanks in advance

I posted a link the other day for some which are really good. I've always had the same problem as you. These are really firm and tasty. I've also used the same recipe to make pasties, but without adding the oats or mashing the beans and they are good too.

You could change the flavour of these by varying the beans and the spices used.0 -
Got a quick question about reheating pasta I hope you can help with.
Just made a pasta dish. Tagiatelli, bacon & broccoli with cream fraiche & mustard. Grated cheese on top and put it in the oven. My husband rang to say he is stuck in traffic and asked me to reheat his dish when he comes home.
Me and the kids just finished eating and I'm not sure how to reheat the leftovers.
Guessing the pasta would dry up in the microwave. Should I just leave it in the oven dish and perhaps put a dash of milk or something on top and put it back in the oven? The food is quite dry as it is so and I don't want to make it worse.0 -
A splash of milk and then the microwave might be best.
Be aware that pasta tends to go a bit rubbery when left for long, so best to leave it "dry" until you want to reheat it.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Oohh, I lived on those as student - pretty much identical recipe to the one justamum posted! I did find that if I put things like carrot in them squeezing some of the water out first helped reduce the wetness. Mashing the beans corsely helps make the texture a bit more interesting.
You can also do a similar thing with cooked rice. I steam rice then drain it and liquidise it so its a stiff paste - then you can add other bits of part cooked veg to it using the sticky rice as a binder. These oven bake well and work better if you leave them in the fridge overnight to firm up a bit.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

can you tell I do this often for my DH? :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi - not sure anybody can help on this one: just finished painting with an oil-based F& B paint and hands are covered and brush needs cleaning, and just discovered we have run out of paintbrush cleaner.
Is there anything else i could use - tried soap and water and sticky mess. Now dry on hands but want to save my brush really. Any kitchen things someone could suggest - vinegar, salt, lemon juice, anything? I can't easily get out at the mo. to get some more.
