DSIL very kindly made a baked cheesecake yesterday for a family get together today. Only problem is that it isn't quite cooked in the middle and has cracked a bit. Should we put it back in to finish off? Or given that it's eggs and cheese would this be dodgy?

Personally I'm gonna have a go at eating it anyway :) but she wants it to be perfect. Any suggestions?

  • Hi All,

I have recently moved into a new house and the drain for the shower is not functioning correctly - by the end of a shower I'm ankle deep in water! I have tried buying every product I can think of - all were hideously expensive and none have made the slightest bit of difference - does anyone have any old style tips that might help?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer! x

When you say 'new house' do you mean a 'new-build property' or just that you've moved house? If it's a new-build property then the shower etc should all be under a 12 month builder's guarantee.

It's normally possible to remove the shower drain for cleaning - on our new-build site, it's recommended that we clean out the showerdrain every 4-6 weeks. Have you checked to see if that's possible. They often get clogged up with hair - especially if the previous tenant had long hair. I wouldn't have thought that drain products would clear hair - only a build-up of grease/slimey stuff.

    Good Luck.

Yes, I'd be trying to look at the U-bend under the shower to see if that's blocked, and investigating any other accessible pipes.

If it IS hair, then we've just bought a dossil from Lakeland. I was a bit sceptical, but it really does help! Instead of having to fish the nasty slimy hair out from the plug hole, you carry the dossil over to the bin and de-hair it there. We have two chaps with waist-length hair in the house, so you can guess who was usually attacking the plug hole ...

    Hi guys
I can't get one of my white work smocks clean. I'm having to hand wash at the moment too :( The smock was covered in tomato/carrot powder and after the wash it all went a yellowy green. How best to wash it again? Bleach? Vinegar?

    Thanks
