Thanks BigMummaF - we do use it from the inside too, so will have a think - something like a beanbag handing from the door handle would do, but I need to make sure it sits snug against the hole

Could you stick a bit of velcro to the door to hold it in place?

What about making a cute bean toys into a hanger thing? maybe tie the front paws of a cat/dog together so it looks like it's hanging off the handle?:o

Can I clean my oven with stardrops and/or white vinegar?

I need to know about this too. What can I use that is ridiculously cheap? Have plenty of white vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. Would that be useful? Thanks in advance!

Just had a nosy on a Kim & Aggie site, cuz my oven needs doing too:o

    Someone on there has said:-
"1 cup of washing powder I]didn't say if it should be bio but I'm guessing it would help[/I& just under 1 cup of white vinegar mixed to a paste" Apply to a warmed--but not working--oven & leave for an hour. Use a spatula to remove any stubborn bits if it doesn't come off with a damp cloth.

I keep meaning to sprinkle salt on the bottom of my oven when I've used it, to help clear the gunk, so I'll have to give this a go later......IF I remember:p

I don't have or use washing powder (I use liquid concentrate) - any other ideas?

I said about sprinkling salt on the base of the oven while still warm. Theory is that it will soak into the gloop & will just wipe away with a damp cloth.

I remember once seeing Kim/Aggie clean a filthy chip pan with half a potato & some salt...perhaps that would work:confused: Or maybe just use neat lemon juice if you're worried about scratching the surface?
All I know for sure is that vinegar, lemon juice & tomato ketchup are all supposed to be good for getting thru grease cuz of the acidity.

From Kim and Aggie's Cleaning Bible:

" (...) coat all the interior surfaces with a thick paste of bicarbonate of soda and a few drops of water. Leave to soak for several hours or, better still, overnight. You will then have to scrub the residue off with warm water and a scouring pad. This method requires plenty of elbow grease abd residue can be tricky to shift. On the plus side, you won't be using any harsh chemicals (...) "

  • Hi there, was checking out the freezer and found all sorts! Is it safe to use a piece of frozen salmon that's been there since July? If so what's the best way of defrosting it? It's only a small fillet.

It will be fine to eat.

You could cook it in the microwave from frozen or defrost in the fridge.
