    Hey OS peeps :hello:

We have a bunch of CDs/DVDs that aren't needed (mostly freebies from weekend papers) and wondered if there's any OS use for them other than the bin? It looks like our area doesn't offer a recycling facility for these at the moment :o

    Hi Crabman :hello:

I'm sure a charity shop would be glad of them, or your could freecycle them.

The only OS use for them I know is to hang them over your veggie patch to scare the birds. :D

I see these quite a lot on my local Freecycle - someone housebound might be glad of them?

    Hi

I'm making homemade cheese, onion and potato pasties, the recipe makes 4 but I only need 2 so i'm going to freeze the other two, my question is do I cook the other two and then freeze them or do I freeze them uncooked? Hope this makes sense.

    Thanks :)

I always cook these kind of things before freezing hayley.

they make brilliant bird scarers if hung over seedlings etc on gardens or allotments, as they spin and twirl in the light they twinkle and it seems to deter the birds.

thats my first thought im sure there will be plenty of other ideas from here for you

Fantastic idea about scaring off birds, we grow vegetables and there are some annoying pigeons who think they can just help themselves... :rotfl:

I'd already tried a couple of charity shops who said they already had loads of them (:o) so weren't interested - I'll give freecycle a try though, thanks peeps :)

When DD was younger she made some lovely coasters. Place them silver side up and put a mug in the middle (this marks the area you want to leave undecorrated). Glue sequins, beads, glitter around the rest of the area.

They don't last long, and aren't washable, but it keeps children occupied for a while.

Hi, can anyone help me please.

I have some mushrooms to use up (failing that they will go in the freezer, but I'm having pork loin tonight (baked/grilled?) with carrots and fine beans and was thinking of putting the extra mushrooms into some condensed mush sauce as a sauce for the pork.

But any other suggestions? Too late for the SC as I won't be home until 6.30pm.

    Catt xx

Why not just fry with a bit of garlic and chilli?

Thanks gt568 - will rmember that. I didn't use the mushrooms in the end just covered the pork with condensed mushroom soup. Decided to have mushroom savoury rice with chicken tomorrow so I can put extra in the rice.

    Thanks though!

Can anyone remember what it is that i need to soak my pan in to clean burnt on sauce?
I`ve got the feeling that it`s either bicarb or biological soap powder and i can`t for the life of me find the post that tells what it is.
I`m off out shortly and really would like to soak the pan as i need it later on.
