Good afternoon all !
I bought 2 newpapers today & both has free CDs. One was a national paper with magazine & CD in cellophane & the other CD was handed to me as I paid for local paper. Now, it was only wnen I got home & went to put the free CDs in my CD basket I realised the basket is now overflowing with free CDs!
From now on I'm going to say no thankyou if they are handed to me, but I am wondering what I am going to do with the excess. I want to cull my collection. So what do YOU do with free CDs?

There is also a company called polymer processing, based somewhere in lecester that recylces them. You can send them to them, they will not ever biodegrade, so aside from giving them away, freecycling, adding to your "car boot cupboard" or giving to the charity shop, this is the only place to really "bin" them
Edit to add this linky

Couldnt find the link to polymer reprocessing, there was a snippet in the observer not so long ago on it though.( ah on the link i posted the leicester co is there!! ) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
thanks for the replies!
I have now established there IS a local freecycle group & I dropped into my brothers house & he likes Glen Campbell! (free today) I'm going to bring the lot around to my brothers house & let him have what he wants!planing for the future, living for today0 -
Hubby has them to play in his car. Very good for us cos he does a lot of business miles and means he has music for nothing :j0

I take them into work and leave them on the staff room table. I usually find they all go! A young lad who works with me took a load as he has very diverse tastes in music and no spare cash to buy CDs.0

I put them at the back of my seed trays in the hope of providing my seedlings with a little more reflected light and to stop them bending over to look out of the window.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0

Our school is collecting them as they want lots of diverse music!:wave:0

Legally charity shops are not allowed to re-sell those free give-away cd's/dvds. There is always a line somewhere on them which says "not for re-sale" and the charity (or anyone who re-sells them for that matter) is breaking the law by ignoring this.Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

I'm using one at the moment while I sit at the computer - my cup of tea is sitting on it!
There are several around my house being utilised as coasters.

most of the charity shops around here have a basketful and have something along the lines of 'we are not legally allowed to sell these cd's, feel free to take as many as you wish and if you choose you may also give a donation'
suppose this gets around that
i do 'buy' them if they are dvd movies, kids stories or christmas music usually give 10-20p 'donation' for each onefounder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0
