My local freecycle posted a msg asking for people to hand in their cds/dvds to the local hospice. The people, staff and families really appreciated a wider variety. Maybe you have a similar place nearby that would welcome them?

a local school did an enterprise project (teaches the students business skills) in which the product was a clock made from a freebie cd. you buy the works and hands. they sold a lot of these items.

If you have a lot, edging around flower beds. Or snap them up and stick them in the ground as a slug stopper around plants.

Not that I've ever tried snaping a CD thinking about it.

I used to have an allotment and we used them hung on string to scare the pigeons off the veg. You could try taking a load up to your local allotment.

I've got lots of free cds/dvds from newspapers/magazines. Seems a shame to throw them away - no takers on freecycle.

Can I make anything with them?

    Thanks for any suggestions

If you are a gardener, they make great bird scarers. String them up across your vegetable and fruit garden. The sun catches them and birds don't like it ;) They look quite pretty too.

Hi, I can't imagine you'll make much money from them but you may get the price of the newspaper back if you sell them at a car booty. Also, I was in our local Oxfam a couple of days ago and they had a collection of formerly free CD/DVDs next to the till. They were going for about £1 each, I think. You probably wouldn't get that at a car boot sale but your local charity shop may appreciate them.

    Hi beckyw,

We have an older thread on what to do with free cds that might help so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.
