Use a normal coffee mug. 12oz is 1 cup and 1/4 of one cup. 8oz is one full cup, 4 oz is half a cup full. HTH0

A few weeks ago, Morrisons were practically giving away their meat pies at the end of Saturday, so naturally I bought a few and they are now gracing my freezer. These are the ones they bake instore so no instructions with them!
Do I HAVE to defrost them before re-heating? If I were going to, I'd get them out of the freezer the night before having them for tea.
And how long shall I heat them for? a) from frozen if you think I safely can and b) from defrosted if I've managed to be that organised?
There's a mixture of steak and chicken (I think). I'm hoping no apple are mixed up with the meat!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
i would be tempted to thoroughly defrost, for piece of mind if nothing else.
cook on a moderate heat for approx 30 mins, until top is brown and contents are piping hot throughout would be my semi-educated guess.
failing that, could you ring the store and ask how they should be done?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Hi Savvy_Sue,
Most pies can be cooked defrosted or from frozen but the length of time to reheat will depend on the size of the pie.
For a family sized pie cooked from frozen I normally cook at 180 degrees for 50 minutes....defrosted before cooking I'd do it for 30-40 minutes. Just keep an eye on the pastry and lower or higher the temperature so that the inside is piping hot before the pastry gets a chance to burn.

Thanks ladies. Yes, asking at the pie counter would be a good thing to do. Just have to remember to do it!
They are individual pies, btw.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I am sure I have an individual one in the freezer that has instructions on it..Unfortunately for me the freezer is in the garage. Of to have a look and will edit this post.

Pink
Sorry, but you are quite mad.
I've seen her garage folks and I wouldn't go into it in daylight never mind at 1 o'clock in the morning.
Sorry.0 -
Really, pink-winged, I am definitely not about to start cooking pies at this time of night so the morning or whenever you next go to your garage will be more than adequate! :rotfl:
Also I have pizza in the fridge for tomorrow, and we always have bacon pasta on Saturdays and a roast on Sundays and cold meat on Mondays so any time before next Tuesday will be fine!
But thank you for your dedication to the cause!
PS I have described your dedication to DH and he says I know some sad people here ...Where else could you ask this kind of question at this time of night and get such a prompt answer? I don't think it's sad, it's lovely, even if a trifle unnecessary on this occasion! :rotfl:
PPS I at least am off to bed now or there will be a sad person or two here ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Actually that wasn't funny!
It's freezing outside....there's a problem with our front door handle (the man is coming to fix it tomorrow) which means it doesn't open from inside. Guess who closed it before checking that someone hadn't locked the porch door. So I ended up stuck in there.
After much hollering, I managed to waken Mr Pink who wanted to know what all the yelling was about. Try explaining to a man who is half asleep that you were just checking pie instructions for a friend. Why does this sort of thing always happen to me?
Anyway...
Individual Pie:
Preheat oven 200 degrees C for 20 mins.
From frozen: 50 mins at 200 degrees.
PS Haribo, My garage is nothing to your shed....Unlike Mr Haribo, Mr Pink has never needed a light on his head before entering!
PPS Sue, The least you could have done was hang around for an answer while I was risking life and limb for you and your pies!Tell Mr Savvy_Sue, I love him too!

Sorry again but......:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I'm afraid those pie instructions don't look right to me. Would you mind awfully checking again? :A:rotfl:
