I have a spare sweet potato and what can I do with it? I'm slow cooking chicken with basil and green peppers to have with mashed potatoe tonight and doing a curry tomorrow. I'm then away for a few days.0

Hello, i have a question, probably not O?S but i didn't know where else to put it
Where can i get one of those adjuster things that are like a button with elastic on? Like you put the button through the button hole on your pants and loop the elastic around the real button to make your pants looser?
Sorry not making myself very clear, i know what i'm on about though lol. I'm only 8/12 weeks pregnant (not sure until scan) but i already have a bump and really dont want to/can't afford to get maternity stuff yet but my jeans are really tight!
Thanks

Kittlemisskitkat,
No idea that you can buy those thingys...what about using an elastic thing for hair...should work and congratulations on being OS and not wanting to buy mat clothes before you need to.

I was going to suggest getting some 'round' elastic, tying a button onto it, and using that, but your idea is even simpler! and probably cheaper too!Signature removed for peace of mind0

my bf wants to pickle some onions and has bought proper sarsons pickling vinegar which says no need to heat with spices, ready to use.
does it still need heating on it's own before pouring over the onions? i know you have to do this with regular vinegar?
thanks!0 -

I think you're supposed to soak the onions in salt water for 1 day and then cover with the pickling vinegar - no need to heat.
I could be wrong though :rotfl:
I think I'll just give that a go!!! I knew you had to salt them first, but all the recipes say about heating the vinegar but that relates to malt vinegar.

Just checked:
Soak the peeled onions in salt water for 1 day
Rinse and dry
Cover with the pickling vinegar
No need to heat, as the vinegar is already spiced for you
(Heating is supposed to release the flavours of the spices)0 -
