  • Hello

Just wondering when is the traditional time to begin making your Christmas Pudding? Is it Stir up Sunday? Also, what about if I wish to give mini xmas puds as gifts, would it be the same, or would that be too late?

    Thanks!

 I always ignore the don't freeze message on milk and do it anyway.

Defrosting in a sink of cold water usually speeds it up a bit if needed
One day I might be more organised...........

I'd say that if you can CAN make your puddings earlier than Stir Up Sunday, they will be all the better for it. It's only the day people associate with it because the vicar/rector used to say "Stir up, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people ..." in the Collect for the week, and all the housewives (yes I'm afraid it was housewives only) thought "Oh my goodness I haven't made the puddings yet!" and rushed home to make them.

    Well, that's my understanding, anyway.

And I don't think it would matter when you made the mini-puds either. Can we add our names to the list? :rotfl:
