Think it's on the last sticky index on cleaning, under collections.
Sometimes it seems that the going is just too rough.
And things go wrong no matter what I do.
Now and then it seems that life is just too much.
But you've got the love I need to see me through.

    Hi sparklewing,

    It's here

If you need to find it again, go to the top of the front page on Old Style and immediately under The Old Style Thrifty Resource Bar there is a list of Old Style links. If you click on Indexed Collections, you'll find the thread you are looking for.

I'll add your thread to the Quick Questions sticky at the top of the board.

Hi I am keen to bake my own bread as the price of it is wild now. I would like to do it without a bread machine. I will be so grateful on tips of what to buy for it and also how to make it Many thanks:)

:j Well done! :j I've returned to making bread by hand, and am loving it. It's great exercise for the upper arms, but not for the waistline :D .

I heard it mentioned on here recently that Delia Smith isn't fashionable, but she taught me to cook. Try this simple white loaf recipe first. You can then take a look at other bread recipes on her site, and on this one.

Our current favourite is thriftlady's freeform bread, which I make using the basic recipe above. We have it sweet with dried fruit and a water icing dribbled over, and savoury with olive and grated cheese, and more cheese and chilli powder sprinkled over.

  • i bought some of the alu take away containers with the card board lids.. like you get in take aways..

i am going to do a few crumbles as i have had some reduced bramleys and some pears....

do i cook them first or can i just make them up and then put the cardboard tops on and then freeze without cooking ?

also to bake them from frozen how long 45 mins ?

silly simple question i know, but i think its one of those days... where i doubt my own judgement ( must be my age )
Work to live= not live to work
  • no you dont have to cook it 1st put the reduced/cooked apple/pear mixture in the bottom at the crumble topping on the top and then put the cardboard lid on, make sure it cool before you put in freezer. Leave to defrost before you cook it but that will be fine.

i never cook mine from frozen i just get out the night before and defrost in the fridge, i guess you could though
    Still Trying :o

Seems cheeky to give this its own thread as there are already indexed threads on the subject - so at the risk of appearing very stupid: there is orange stuff appearing (appeared?) round our bath/on the tiles/sealant and on the bottom of the shower curtain - not a huge amount yet. Is this mould or mildew or just residue from something (shampoo?) There is also a little bit of greyish blackish mould which I can identify as such. Before treating it as mould or mildew (what's the difference?), have I correctly identified it?

    Thank you!

It sounds like limescale to me. If it is then, pour on some neat vinegar, rub with a cloth, rinse and then clean as you normally do.
