I would think it's easiest and cheapest to buy lemon oil - never made it TBH. You don't need the really pure stuff because it's to be used for cleaning purposes, not for aromatherapy/medicinal purposes. You can buy larger bottles for cleaning guitars, these may be cheaper. I have various citrus oils that I've had for ages so can't help re buying them now.
I think that once the duster is really dirty, give it a quick wash and when dry, re-dip in the solution and wring almost dry. Your oil mix can be Kept in one jar and your soaked dusters in another, ready for use.0 -

I haven't had chance to do a thorough search online, but if you just want a small bottle, then Holland and Barrett are your best bet - £3.59 for 10ml. However, this should last quite a long time. Or you could try and musical intrument shops, as it is used for cleaning guitars, although I don't know how the price compares or what else may be in it.
If you watch 'How clean is your house' they always seem to pour about a cupful into a bowl, but don't know where they get this much from, (unless they buy lots from H&B) what sort of quality it is etc. Maybe I'll go and ivestigate this.....0 -
thanks ticklemouse i'll go and have a look in HB

Oh, rightI thought as much but thought I'd better check.
OK - the index is locked beacuse it's an index If You See What I Mean? And then, at the time I put it together I only knew how to point to a single post in the Save Zillions on Cleaning THREAD and I'm fairly sure that you can reply to those using thebutton in the bottom right corner.
In any event - if you step back to the Zillions Index post there are two links right at the very top of the page, one of which takes you to the start of the thread, and the other takes you to the last post.
That would allow you to ask your question in the thread itself then
When I get time I shall change the links to ones easier for people to use and reply to, but it will take a while, sorry.

hi
well i've got my lemon oil and lint free dusters and want to try it out. only thing is i bought a 10ml bottle of lemon oli and if i do it 1 part oil 2 parts water its not going to make a lot and it's going to work out expensive. if i only add a small amount of lemon oil to say 1/2 pint of water will i need to add some olive oil so theres enough oil to trap the dust?
thanks- jan GC £200

Hi, Last night i decided to polish the dinning room table. I wanted to try the tip about Olive oil and lemon juice. I didn't have any Olive oil so used abit of Sunflower Oil and a couple of drops of concentrated lemon juice, The result was fantastic, no more spray polish for me. I just wanted to ask whats the difference between using Olive oil and cheap Sunflower oil, apart from the price difference, also has anyone ever put a dash of essential oils like Lavender or whatever in to the mix? Would it work? Should i leave out the Lemon juice? Waiting with empty jar and duster at the ready.20p savers club

Oooo, I want to know this one too - I have almost finished my bottle of chemicals and really want to use oil and (hopefully) some essential oil drops. I have a glut of sunflower oil (left over from our deep fat frier days
), and would like to use that if it will be okay.
