    Hi CrazyChick
I live in Heanor, 20 mins away from Derby. The snow has melted, children suitably wet coming home from school. Better start dishing out my stew, that should defrost them suitably;) , although DD queried if we have an excess amount of veg since we are having stew AGAIN...
Oh well, can't please everyone all the time.

Just popped in to say hi.:hello:

I did read the thread at lunchtime - but for the life of me can't remember what happened . Sorry guys.:o

Aaargh. Working part time does my head in at times. Loads of stuff kicked off on friday - I did what I could to expedite all the issues while I was off, but of course I come back to another crisis meeting cos nothing's happened since Friday. Good Grief guys -this is my first day back. I can't help it if people need me to hold their hands just to do the job they're being paid to.

    Sorry - rant over.

THERE IS NO IRONING WAITING TO BE DONE IN THIS HOUSE.:T :j

Mum called to say she's coming down on monday - so that should motivate me to do the "little" pile of filing sitting at my feet.

Also need to meal plan for next week (remembering mum's here on mon). :undecided

Those tasks should keep me out of mischief this evening.:A

  • Still feeling a little strange after stumbling into the bathroom bleary eyed this morning and instead of using my facial wipes to cleanse my face used bathroom cleaning wipes instead:eek:

Fairly woke me up and my face has been a little red all day but on the plus side I have been really shiny and lemony fresh:D

Haribo you really made me smile. :D Welcome.
scuzz hope all goes well for your mum.
gingin sorry for your loss. I'm glad you are starting to feel brighter though.
jellycat Well done on the extra money. Good to see you so happy.
anniestar hope you feel better soon.

My half-price turkey joint from Sainsbury's is cooking as I type and the half-price parsnips, cauli and broccoli will be going on soon. Must remember to make gravy for DD - she is addicted to the stuff. Home made apple, pear and ginger crumble with custard for DS and DD for afters. I will have fruit.

I was beginning to think my car was just like the Weasley's in the Harry Potter film - invisible. Two people walked out in front of me and two cars cut me up all within 10 mins this morning. The car is bright red!!

I'm going to have to look for some more book bargains now as I have volunteered some of those that I have already bought as prizes for the raffle at the bingo night at DD's school.

((((hugs)))) to those who need or want one.

    Good evening :hello:

Back from third day of jury service, STILL haven't been called onto a trial - the lady I've been chatting with since Monday got put on a trial at lunchtime so I was back to reading books and magazines. There were so many good recipes in the current issue of Prima that I "liberated" it from the enormous collection of magazines and took it home with me :o Do you think I'll be up in court myself for magazine theft? :rotfl:

Congrats Penny-Pincher!! on the assignments, and jellycat for the new job :T

Angelselondon/Churchmouse - in court today one of the trials was delayed by over an hour because one of the jurors was stranded on Plumstead station! South Eastern Trains - don't you just love 'em? (I'm so pleased I don't have to use them any more!)

Shez - no, those pics are taken FROM my flat rather than OF it. I live in a brand new (and much less attractive!) building but at least I have a nice view of the warehouse conversion, eh? :rotfl:! VERY VERY kind of you to see if you can help with the Ikea item. I'm getting an error message when I try to look at it on the Ikea site at the moment, though. It is a folding dining-table called Jussi, fourth row down on THIS page but its own link isn't working  (it was working yesterday!) I could really do with this table, it is the only one I've seen which is the right size and is extendable and affordable...

Blasted malfunctioning washing machine means all my stuff is currently at the launderette costing me a fortune... will be off in a few mins to get it out and see what needs tumble drying.

:hello: Goooooood Evening, fellow OS'ers :)

Apologies for not having had time to read the whole thread, but this is the first chance I've had to sit at the computer all day and I still have much to accomplish on my To Do list

Thank you for all the good wishes/empathy/PM's/commiserations yesterday - the school *finally* called late this afternoon to update on the complaint ... 40+hrs after it was brought to their attention, and a good half an hour *after* they got around to speaking to my son (why do I feel they didn't take this seriously? - Oh, I know why! It must be that we phoned them THREE times yesterday to ask for an update and the teacher dealing with it didn't get any messages until 6pm???) As someone pointed out yesterday, ... hello, we're talking assault here!!??? Anyway, upshot is, the girl has been excluded for two days - as the boiler is broken and it's fair assumption the school will now be closed until it's fixed, I'm sure you can see what a hardship/punishment that really is ;)

Thank goodness for the vat of savoury mince I made yesterday because it was a godsend when it came to dinner this evening.

Tomorrow I really must knuckle down housewise ... headsup ... there's even a danger I might be joining the Flylady crew :o  ... since Christmas, with my friend deteriorating and all the other spanners being thrown in the works, I'm not as on top of things as I ought to be. Feeling quite deflated and worn down tbh. Oh well, onwards and upwards. Catch up tomorrow

Hi everyone, I haven't posted much for ages due to connection problems but we've now got a new router (the old one more or less burned out)

I'm really tired now, having read all through the thread, and can't remember who said what!;)

((((((HUGS)))))) to those who have recently lost people they love.

Congrats to those with new jobs, or whose OHs have new jobs!:j

N9eav - looking forward to hearing why you were so keen to get to work today!

Bargain Rzl - I bought that issue of Prima too, just because of the recipes!:D

Catznine - I notice you haven't posted recently either, so hope you are feeling well enough to read the thread at any rate - or that you're away on holiday somewhere warm and I've just forgotten you said you were going!

Not a lot OS going on here atm as I've been very weary. but did a gorgeous shoulder of lamb in the SC the other day. Yesterday's dinner, though, was what you might call a "guilty pleasure" - Sainsbury's canned Chili con Carne!
I love it!:o In my defence I was going out and didn't have time or energy to cook a meal from scratch. :D

Went to Bluewater this morning to help DD2 as she wanted to buy a travel cot and needed me to push the pushchair while she carried the box with the cot in it. At least, she thought she would, but in the event it proved easier to balance the box on top of the pushchair, holding it steady with one hand while DGS grinned at her over the top of it. Bless!:D

Although I don't post regularly I think of you all and pray for those having problems or difficult times.

    Best wishes

    Good evening!

Snow here today in my little corner of SE London. My 1989 Ford Fiesta kept stalling on the way to work. It passed it's MOT last week as well. I wish I'd taken a picture of the prettiness now.

Both the sessions in my children's centre were cancelled because of the weather. The heating is broken so we couldn't run the crèche for the cookery course, or the story session as the temperature was below 60F. I spent first thing texting parents, rather than drinking my coffee! The nursery which is in the same building was also shut. The heating keeps breaking down apparently because the system is too small for our new building. I can't possibly imagine why the builders who built my workplace went bankrupt. :D

At half four the nursery staff downstairs went home and put the alarm on with me still in the building! They'd forgotten I was upstairs.

Despite having a full kitchen at work with which to cook my lunch, I have been eating stuff on toast for the past couple of weeks. I keep a loaf of bread in the freezer for days when I don't have time to make something proper, or to dip into hm soup. But I've been really lazy recently. :o Today's lunch was marmite on toast.

This evening I shall be watching old episodes of The Avengers, and doing some loom knitting. :D I'm very impressed with it so far. I have already made a hat, a single baby booty, and have nearly finished a bag. The most I have ever done with normal knitting is a garter stitch dishcloth. :rotfl:

Have a nice (warm) evening everyone!

    Evening everyone :hello:

Congratulations to Andrea on the birth of baby Eleanor! :j

Belated Happy birthday to AussieLass

And big hugs to all those that need them.

I wrote a really long, interesting (ish:D) post last night, only to hit submit and the whole of my internet seemed to crash :o .

One of the boys in the class that I'm teaching for 4 days this week was set upon by a couple of other boys - just outside the school grounds - last night. His father tried to drag this boy (ie his son who was getting beaten up) away, only to have another father (of one of the "attackers") hit him (father of boy getting beaten up) with a hammer. Needless to say, this poor man is now in hospital, with the police involved. It's taken it out of me and I am looking forward to tomorrow being my last day there!

My mum 'phoned yesterday to say that Katie, their dog (and one of my bridesmaids :D) is poorly. She's been to see her "Uncle Ed" - the vet :D - who has given her antibiotics for an infection. Katie is apparently not overly convinced by these supposedly "palatable" tablets - especially as she's not eating much. :D My parents' neighbour, "Uncle Frank" (who breed labradors, so Katie normally adores him) brought her round some tripe, but Katie turned her nose up at it. :D Don't really blame her. She evidently takes after me. :rotfl: She's nearly 11, but it's not like Katie to be ill.

On a positive note, evidently CD-Wow don't think I've spent enough money with them recently because they've sent me two 50p vouchers via e-mail for not having purchased anything from them for a while.

Oooh, and my £20 of John Lewis vouchers for opening the HSBC Online Saver have arrived today too. I've got a few that I've saved up from Pigsback.com, so I can buy a nice item of clothing (or I'll just spend it all on food and wine instead at Waitrose ;)). The item of clothing is dependant on me losing more weight, so it had better get shifting soon.

Supper tonight is Basque chicken casserole with rice. It has defrosted, but I've never frozen that dish before, so hopefully it's okay to reheat. Obviously the rice isn't frozen......

    Take care everyone

    Evening everyone.
Tea all done and eaten and pots washed, im know sat here in my pjs, with a glass of wine, feeling quite down at minute, was feeling great and positive about all the things iv got done today, then the phone rang 3 times whist cooking tea, a old friend of mine going on about all the new stuff shes had and going on about nothing important, just ended up feeling all fed up!
Me and dh going to talk later after kids have gone to bed about what i posted earlier, thinking of telling them in springbank hoildays, but we will sort it out, if we got through telling ds2 about him being adopted im sure we can get through this.

Right off to chill out and try and cheer up abit, this is so unlike me, nothing ever really gets me down.
So big smiles and happy faces will be back tommorow
