Did the Northern Lights many times when lived in Thurso 5-11 year olds. Fantastic.
Also remembering going to crab factory and getting crab's claws to eat on way home from school, abbatoir (not right spelling?) (the memories try not to go there now re seeing beast being killed and being given bull's eyes!!!) I had so much freedom at that age in my life we cannot give the kids now. I used to roam the sparse north of Scotland countryside without my parents having a worry. A 30 minute walk to school - never got picked up in car. All weathers and I can tell you sometimes grim!

Still trying to catch up, had a rolls disaster, put them in airing cupboard to rise and they did, TOO MUCH and all stuck together, trying to salvage what I can, HM bread without the BM is something I haven't tried until today!
I forgot that the bread was rising last night and by the time i got to it it had turned into a mushroom. 10yodd moaning this morning when she made her lunch that now everyone at school will know that we're so poor we have to bake our own bread - should i be flattered that she's been passing it off as shop bought?I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Sorry I don't think it means you are poor, just sensible and want them to have the best ie not all those icky things they put in it!
Well salvaged ok, I have 6 rolls, a little oddly shaped (reshaped after disaster) searching now for a recipe for 'soft crust' rolls and bread, for those who protest to 'hard bread' in the house. One day I might be more organised...........

Good evening everyone,
Feeling a lot better now all the children have gone, and my 2 are in bed. Had a bath after dinner, which was just what i needed, half an hours peace!!!!
Shez - im not allowed to take Nurofen or Asprin because of my ITP, so i have to suffer if the paracetamol doesnt work.
Thinking of having an early night, ive nearly finished reading the book i bought at the weekend, so would be nice to go and do that. I have an electric blanket, so will be nice and toasty.
Hope everyone has a lovely evening,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
You won't believe this but...
I think my washer-dryer might have decided it isn't broken after all
Saying this very quietly obviously, so it doesn't hear me and break again
Basically what it did was, after it had had a blocked filter (which i cleaned out) it started sounding an alarm saying it thought it was flooded. When I phoned customer services I was told that half the time this error rights itself if you switch it off at the mains for an hour. Anyway I tried that and it didn't. But TODAY I tried switching it on again and the alarm is no longer sounding...
Engineer is not booked to come until Monday week, so plenty of time to test whether if it's really working before I cancel- of course now I don't HAVE any laundry to test it with, as I just spent £10 :eek: washing and drying the contents of my large overflowing linen basket at my local launderette...
