No, no-one should think they are poor. Ok a batch didn't work out right but we are all trying to cut costs when we can. Mis-shapen doesn't mean taste was compromised or anything!

I sometimes wondered if I had got over to our two how you have to economise and now they are householders with mortgages and in the case of DD1 with kids and on a tight budget we know it has paid off! I still have an odd blow out and to be honest I can probably afford it because I know when on pension I won't!! I do splurge a wee bit on DGs but if they ask they don't always get. I tell them that Granny has no pennies just now. They all have to realise that this is life and nothing on a plate.

Grannybroon I wish my mum was like you. She is constantly buying stuff for the kids and DD is beginning to think that all she has to do is ask. I hate that attitude. It's not so bad when it's things they need like school socks and new wellies but most of the time it's tat that just ends up broken on the bedroom floor :(

    Hi Moggins

No, I do practical things - I have always bought nappies for the boys and this week Lidls are doing BOGOF for Pampers Wipes which we seem to get through a lot of! £3 odd for a double pack (with the BOGOF which a really good deal) (Took 4 packs through yesterday plus a huge Comfort I got in Costco a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, probably been the odd sucker for a wee bit of tat but would much prefer to go to Clarke's to pay for the shoes, or to Next for a really nice outfit. DGS1 already knows a wee bit about manipulation. The other week when I met DD and SIL for handover for sleepover, we then passed ToysRus. DGS1 said - 'Granny, can we go there to buy some new Thomas trains for your house?' My reply was, No, Granny and Grandad sent money to Santa for Christmas and your birthday in January so we can't. However, we might go another day. Total acceptance. You can't give in to them all the time as it doesn't help parental beliefs. I also don't believe that you should 'buy' love by always giving material stuff. Love, time and attention win always!

Was really naughty in Hong Kong earlier this year when I spent £70 on really gorgeous outfits for the boys in Ralph Lauren (not outlet!). Well, every now and then doesn't hurt and their Christmas photo in the outfits is first class!

LOL - I taped diet doctors so I could watch relocation relocation! :rotfl:

Edit: catowen, are you able to take codeine? Paracetemol & codeine tablets always seem to knock stuff on the head that no paracetemol will touch.

Thinking of having an early night, ive nearly finished reading the book i bought at the weekend, ...

    One word ... library :shhh:

BR - don't be short sighted!!!!!!!!! Let the man come anyway ... you never know ... eye candy ;) Hope you're right and it's just having a bout of PMT = Piggin Mechanical Tantrum

moggins - ((hugs)) Keep telling yourself that it's a Gran's perogative to spoil as they see fit ;) Pat yourself on the back, *knowing* that, despite your dd's attitude, she is being given "balance" = two different ways of seeing/doing things so she can make informed choices when she's an adult herself.

grannybroon - see above, read 'perogative' (aka RL :rotfl: ) ;)

frizz - bless ya heart (I'd kiss you, but I'm fearful of a gum hemorrahage :o;) )

stef ... yes *do* feel flattered that she's passing it off as shop bought :D In a warped way, it is a compliment  (Mean's it is socially "acceptable" amongst her peers ;) )

Hiya again guys feeling a little better after some chill out time in front of tv and a very amusing game of i-spy with the boys!!LOL.
CC we had guessed everything from coloured carpet to cash card and ds1 says no is cherry coke!!It wasnt even cherry coke it was diet cherry coke so told him it should have been dcc!!!!!
Thanks for all your kind words, we wont put it off to long but think springbank will be best as ds1 will have done his sats the week before and they have a week to take it all in before returning to school.
When we told ds2 it was planned like a military op, ever possible reaction was covered, apart from the one we got, which was cool calm and collected! Kids you can never tell what they will do.

Have a lovley night all, im off to bed in a minute as having a few early nights has made we feel alot better in the mornings.
    Speak to you all tommorow.
Hugs to anyone who needs one.

I have just realised I haven't been to chemist for a really important repeat. Two days without - you had better watch out as I will be 'louping' as we say in Scotland. Hyper for everyone else!

:jwell I have had a couple of exciting days on e bay have made £300 :j :D:D

I had a Grenadier electric firelighter which we used when we had an open fire, no fire lighters and paper for me!!! We lost the key, managed to get a new one and put it on Ebay, it sold for £50. Today I listed our caravan awning which has been sitting in the garage for 2 years and sold it on 'buy it now' for £250:T :T :T :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

So this month I have made a nice little bit on ebay....... soooooooooo my holiday and spending money are paid for....... I can now start thinking about what I can sell to find the cash to visit our friends in Florida next year!!!

I have also come in under budget for the challenge, went to the market today for cauli, broccoli, swede, parsnips and bananas..... £2.57 so I have a bit left in my purse just in case and £20 in the slush fund to go into the holiday accoung. I know its not going to happen every month but we are doing ok just now, so pleased with how things have worked out.

Our car has to go in next week, we have a couple of problems, the seat has a ratchet mechaniam which hoists the seat up, every morning I have to rachet it up as it has slipped back in the night. The last couple of times OH has gone out in the car the power steering light has come on, they think the sensor is faulty, so glad we have the gold standard extended warrenty..... everything will be done for free....... we are very pleased with the car generally, just the little things that need seeing to.

Right I am off to bed, had a bad night last night OH was fidgiting, it was well after 3am before I managed to drop off, think I'll give him a whack with the rubber hammer tonight, I need some sleep.
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Re £1 coins for trolleys. Before Christmas one of our local kids nurseries were selling £1 substitutes for charity for a £1. I bought 10 and gave them as stocking fillers. We have all put on car key rings for the supermarkets who want an £1 coin for trolley. I know we get £1
