OK, it was already going to be a spendy day for me today as I always go out for dinner on a Sunday evening so I decided to get fuel as it won't last till 1st December. I've also asked my mum if she'll buy any bits over the next couple of days and do the next big shop as this is where most of my money and NSD's have gone for the family and it wasn't my turn to be honest (we alternate big shops but I've done the last two)! So, with the plan sorted I just need to get NSD's tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday to hit my target of 15. Wondering what target to set for December...!

BDINI I think if she hands over 6 months and you like her that sounds okay, unless she is growing cannabis. Are you taking references?

Rodger the lodger (in my house) handed over a months and a £200 deposit, but most importantly he seemed really nice and I got a really good vibe from him. he had references but I didn't follow them up.

The guy who tried to negotiate the rent down and the one who wanted fringe benefits both got short shrift.

    Hi BDINI

I'm with kerri on no 3, if she can't be bothered to turn up to the viewing and/or phone you, what's she likely to do to your house? Sorry, I don't mean to sound all gloomy but you've had a lot to put up with recently with the house, you don't need any more hassle x

Re no 1, I guess if she (or her guarantor) can provide 6 months' rent in advance, she can't be all bad but I think I'd be tempted to put an arrangement in place whereby you always take the rent in advance, once bitten and all that. And I'd definitely get references and follow up on them.

Fingers crossed for you. You've got your head screwed on the right way so I'm sure you'll make the right decision.

OK everyone, really in need of some help. Really, really struggling to fill in time without Ben - leaving work to the next morning takes forever and weekends last a lifetime (not trying to be melodramatic but that's unfortunately how it is).

Have been trying to think back to what I used to do many years ago before I had him and guess what ...... it was shop:o which was one of the biggest contributing factors to my debts building up in the first place.

Obviously, I don't want to go there again so any ideas on what I can do would be hugely appreciated - there is only so much reading, knitting etc that I can do.

I know I need to get out a bit but am really struggling to do this by myself - and, when I do, I just can't seem to do this without popping in somewhere & buying something (mostly small things but it's not helping with the NSDs and I can see it getting out of hand if I'm not careful).

Any ideas would be hugely appreciated:)

Hi Rising, just catching up with the posts this morning, and I see you've had a lot of response and a lot of advice and good suggestions.
What I'd like to add is the loss of a beloved pet is a bereavement and as such is extremely overwhelming. This is totally normal, so give yourealf permission to cry and grieve and remember you are not alone on your journey. Dont try to do too much too soon - baby steps to recovery!
I think its great that you've identified your spending pattern - ie when you're stressed and at a loose end, so it's a good idea to keep as busy as you are able. Voluntary work is a great idea if you are up for it. In addtion I would suggest setting aside a little budget for a treat every week and put that money in a separate purse. When you go out, take only that purse, so if you want to spend the money you can do so without guilt. I hope that makes sense. Feel free to post on here if it helps, we are all here to "listen" and help if we can.

    Take care of you th_hug.jpg

you will always be rich enough to be generous.

Claiming NSD #11 yesterday...and that's it for me in November as the next couple of days are spends ones.

Still, 11 days without spending - who'd've thunk it. :D

Shall certainly be signing up for December!
