Can you google volunteering and look up what is happening locally in your area?

I have just entered "volunteering" and my county into google and there's actually a whole website dedicated to it - it looks pretty well organised and pages and pages of stuff on there.

Only been down the 1st page and a couple that sound interesting - some still a bit far to commit to over winter but sure I'll be able to find something close to home - thanks for that!

Once again everyone, thanks for your support - it really is deeply appreciated :A

ETA: Jinty .... thanks for the treat purse suggestion, I will be giving that a try!

Well I managed to avoid a spend (after THOSE candles too ;)) and have clocked up NSD #13 which is 1 better than the last two month :j

BDINI - It's a tough call with the house, obviously you want someone in but yes, I'm sure that the letting agent would be giving a glowing ref, esp when they know they won't be managing the tenancy. I would be tempted to call #3, and see what she has to say for herself but wouldn't necessarily hold out much hope if she's proved unreliable thus far. I totally get that you want someone in as it's extra money you have to find each month atm, but it's a lot harder to get somone out if they aren't right than get them in. It is a tough time of year to get someone in, we moved mid-Dec (after an inital place fell through only two weeks before) and we very much got the impression from letting agents is that people don't want to move around Christmas. That said, we did and surprised our current (very lovely landlord who was still working on the house :D) I would take your time to find the right person IF you can afford it, and given that you will be managing the tenancy yourself.

Apologies for the waffle, went out for a lovely meal with OH tonight courtesy of groupon and am a venison pie and couple of glasses of wine to the wind :rotfl:

  • I managed to get #16 today,so I've reached my target.I wasn't sure if I'd get one today,as I had an evening out (concert),but I'd already bought the ticket and took a drink with me.

I might even get one more in on Wednesday.:)
  • #5 today:D

I'm on track for another NSD tomorrow, but i won't reach my target this month as DS will be home on weds due to teacher's strike, and i've promised him a treat.

So, i will take this month as a learning curve and do better next month :)

Bagged my 13th NSD today so just need to get 2 more tomorrow and Wednesday to have hit my target! Just done a meal plan with my mum and we're all set to conquer the grocery challenge too! We've worked out that we've got enough food in the cupboards/freezer to feed an army so we've said that Christmas aside then we'll try and make meals using only what is in the house but are allowed to top up with fresh extras (veggies and bread as we're going to buy loads of meat to put in the freezer) but only to a value of £10 per week to ensure we don't waste food which is a major problem for us. Hopefully then this should make December cost neutral and we can adopt the same principal in January and really save some money!!!!
