  • Morning everyone. More (((((hugs))))) for you rising. Good suggestions from everyone.

BDINI, you get rid of the agents and you get interest straight away, funny that! Fingers crossed one of the potential tenants is perfect for you.

Spendy day yesterday as expected, but not too bad really as most of the spending was stuff we found heavily reduced that we can flog on ebay for lots lots more than we bought it (hopefully). Well, bought for a tenner, same items are going for approx £25 so gonna stick them on later.

Congrats to all those who've already made their target for the month

To those who've still got a few to do - I'm cheering you on from the side-lines :j

To those who don't think they're going to make it - a big well done for all those you do manage. Even 1 extra NSD is 1 extra day you hold on to your pennies :T

I went out to meet new chap in the city yesterday for our trip to the cinema. Hadn't managed to watch the first J0hnny Eng!ish (son's houseshare does have it, but had lent it out to someone else), so I went in blind - with a bit of trepidation as DS1 had told me he really didn't think is was 'my thing'..... but I enjoyed it :) It's not one to add to my list of films I'd be happy to watch again and again, but I'd probably be up to watching another if they made one.

When we met we went for a coffee (which he paid for, same as last time we met) before the pics. But I was determined to pay for something yesterday, so when we got to the cinema he got told to put his wallet away as I was paying for that. A bit of hesitation from him (accompanied by an 'are you sure?'), at which I pointed out that today (Sunday) is his birthday so it was my treat - and he accepted that :) Another coffee after the pics, then a mooch around the Christmas market (during which we met a lady he knows from work who knew my name, that he was meeting me for the pictures, and even which film we were going to see - so I'm taking that as a promising sign) and a final coffee before getting buses home (he paid for all the coffees, so I reckon we're probably about quits on what we paid for the day).

Once we were both home (and after we'd had our teas) he phoned again - but it meant me giving him my landline number as after our calls earlier this week (3.5hrs on Tuesday and 4 hours on Thursday!) he's just about used all the minutes included in his mobile package. Normally I won't give anyone my landline number, but felt quite comfortable doing so last night. Quite pleased to find that he works like me in making the most of free landline calls (hang up and redial after an hour), which meant answering the phone to him 3 times last night - and if I'd not said I just had to turn in when I did then he'd have been about to do it again ;) And he's pretty much promised to call again today :D

Will be a spendy day (again:() today - 2nd phone packed in yesterday (1st one already dead & answerphone not worked for ages:o) so I guess I can't put off buying a new one any longer ..... I HATE spending money on things like this!

However.... it will get me out of the house for a wee while which I guess is a good thing (but would be better if it didn't yet again involve spending money IYKWIM).

DM due to arrive any minute & house a tip:eek: & still really, really windy here.

    Have a good Sunday everyone.

Found out I am getting some money back for mis-sold ppi. Not a massive amount, but as I didn't really think I would get anything as the loan was paid back over 6 years ago, it was a lovely surprise.

    great news Frodo

Hoping for a NSD today as I've opened the zip to my purse over the last couple of days.
Quite tired today, got up at 4am to see if the chickens had their lights on. No, they were in pitch black, but I dragged myself out again at 6.30am to check them again, woopee lights were on. They should kick into laying again soon hopefully.

Got up to 10 for lunch - not sure until everyone arrives as to the exact number. So it's soup and flans, I'd better start cooking (pastry shells done for the flans so they just need fillings) and then it will be feet up this PM for a couple of hours, before putting the hens to bed.

Tea is already cooked, I did it in the slow cooker yesterday - so it's a bottle of the vino to go with it.

On the down side my dryer is on the blink, and so is the dishwasher, got the menders coming out but they can't come until next Wednesday, and I hate washing hung over the radiators so hoping for some dry sunny days.

NSD 11 for me today - not a penny spent and only a little spendy day yesterday too

Meal planned for next week to focus on using up what's in and written a little shopping list with essentials on only. really need to reign in any spending in Dec apart from MOT and badly needed haircut next week.

Also meal planned a Sunday roast meal of beef brisket - in freezer and having a go at Yorkshire Brack which uses up dried fruit in cupboard. Also an apple pie that uses up pastry in freezer, apples and blackberries. Hoping can stick to this plan

Can I declare NSD no. 6.

Feeling quite upset about Gary Speed. Assumed when I heard that it was a heart attack. Never knew him, just knew him as a Newcastle player and Wales manager. Seemed to be doing a really good job and people who were working with him yesterday could see no signs of what was to come. Don't like suicide, seems so pointless.
