Have been trying to think back to what I used to do many years ago before I had him and guess what ...... it was shop:o which was one of the biggest contributing factors to my debts building up in the first place.
Obviously, I don't want to go there again so any ideas on what I can do would be hugely appreciated - there is only so much reading, knitting etc that I can do.
I know I need to get out a bit but am really struggling to do this by myself - and, when I do, I just can't seem to do this without popping in somewhere & buying something (mostly small things but it's not helping with the NSDs and I can see it getting out of hand if I'm not careful).
Any ideas would be hugely appreciated:)
Hi RFTA
Sounds like you could do with some company. Any chance you could go and have a coffee with a friend?
If not, then the best thing to do is simply be busy - declutter that room, cupboard, drawer that's been annoying you for ages, give the entire house a spring clean, catch up on writing letters to friends, wrap Christmas presents...whatever it is that can keep you busy.
Of course, if you want to get out and about, then check out local walking for fitness groups (or walking groups in general). Plus don't forget volunteer opportunities - there may even be some that need help today. Gets you out of the house, allows you to keep up with your NSDs and gives you the satisfaction of helping someone/something in need.
Hope it helps.

Hi risingJust a couple of thoughts that popped in my head when i read this....I never pick the littlies up from school with my handbag now so they can't convince me to buy them sweets so my first suggestion is when you go out for a walk only, leave your purse at home (maybe just take a token amount if it makes you feel better for emergencies). The other suggestion was to see if you have any rescue centres near you that may allow you to take their rescue dogs out for a walk? I don't know if this may be too soon for you but thought I would suggest anyway x
ETA just saw that while I was busy writing this spoon and nora have also given good suggestions too
Today *should* be an NSD, not going out anywhere other than the in-laws. Have friends over tonight but I shouldn't need to spend for that as we already have a few beers in and thats all you really need isn't itBe the change you want to see in the world - Gandhi

Thank you both ..... I did start volunteering with our "local" cat rescue last year but had to stop due to the bad weather last winter - it's around 25 miles away:eek: and the rural roads round here are terrible when it's snowy/icy. There's also a dog rescue but unfortunately a similar distance away (one of the joys of living in rural Scotland!). Will def be looking into it in the spring tho'.
Hadn't thought about volunteering elsewhere as I'm really an animal rather than a people person (sorry if that sounds awful) but will give it some thought too.
Meantime, I must try to kick my butt into action and at least get dressed:o and I will try to clear out my desk drawers ....:eek:Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Rising - wise ole Spoony beat me to it suggesting a shelter or something where you could volunteer. Do you have any neighbours who you could help out by some dog walking or something similar, even stables nearby perhaps if you're rural. If you're missing the company in the house would you consider perhaps offering some fostering from the rescuse shelters? It might be too hard atm for you to contemplate but this is a busy time of year for shelters and they are always looking for assistance from all kinds of people. Also, it's still really early days since losing Ben so don't beat yourself up, he was a massive part of your life and was suddenly taken so you're going to feel all of this. xx
Bottleofred - you're right about the parcel tape - couple more things to list on fleabay this weekend so more pennies for the pot (well xmas budget)
Right, I actually got up early today and now it's nearly midday, must get my bum out and get some of those aforementioned prezzies, and some foodFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Happy Saturday everyone.
Rising - big hugs - the suggestions on here are as much as I could offer. So apologies I'm not able to add much x
I hit NSD number 15 on Tuesday. Not had the best of weeks - lots of collections at work for birthdays, and one leaver! I had my Xmas do last night with the Zumba girls and had intended to spent but in the end it was £2 to another collection! I also had to pay £1 for car parking when buying all the gifts!
I early declaring today NSD number 16 which is my target!!!!!!
I have no intention of leaving the house as im nursing a big hangover but I am window Internet shopping for my new flat! Until its exchanged I cant confirm the purchases as I'll need to check sizes - no point buying a sofa until I know it's not going to take up the entire living room!
Hope everyone is having a good day xCar Paid in full - 10/06/2016 :j0 -
Dropping by to say I might.....just might.....hit my target this month as I am now on 13 NSDs!!!
Tomorrow I don't intend to spend anything (no cash anyway, unless I send OH down the docks) and Monday is payday so humunguous spend there! Standing orders/DDs due out Wednesday so Tuesday is definitely a possibility for my final NSD of the month. We shall see...
Should be leaving for work right now but a long standing medical problem has been playing silly b*ggers with me lately, and today was a bit of a rough day so as I have absolutely no energy whatsoever I have had to phone in sick. First time I have ever had to take time off work with this problem in over 20 years so can't really complain. Will get appointment with GP Monday to see if he can give me a prescription for some additional medication to try and get this thing under control. Like any other working person with a home and family and finances to juggle, I can't afford to be ill!
So tonight - bath or shower? Decisions, decisions....well, whatever I decide, some indulgent ablutioning followed by clean PJs, dressing gown, fluffy cat slippers, and a hot drink in the land of sofaville for me tonight. One life - your life - live it!0 -
