  • Oooh, seems I might have a buyer for my bass rig. Just waiting for a call off him tomorrow to sort out collection. We've agreed on £275, and I think I've decided on the practice amp I want, which on Amazon is £185 but I'll obviously see if I can get it cheaper.

So if it all goes ahead I'll have money leftover to pay off the card too! I think some of the spare money will need to be used to take the girls (and DP, who is more excited than they are..) to see the Muppets movie as they've been asking and asking.

Fingers crossed it all goes ahead :D

Go you IA- by my reckoning, you've already paid £1000 off your starting debt :j (Long term lurker here BTW- always admired your determination!)
  • Damn, the sale of the amp fell through. Not in a very good mood tonight now but I'm sure I'll get over it! Oh well. Back to the drawing board then!

Going to do my weekly/monthly budgets tonight as my nursery bill has come in. Will update those later.

I finally got my halifax card, credit limit £500. *rolls eyes* It also says I have to have had the card 6 months before they'll review the credit limit too. Whats the point in them asking if you want to balance transfer and put in all the details if they won't give you enough credit limit to do the damn transfer. /end rant

Not sure what I'm going to do with it now. I'm tempted to close it, or is it worth even just transferring a portion of the big card to save interest? Hmmm.

Today I spent £2.20 on some cakes from greggs for me and the girls for pudding. Have updated my spending diary but will do my budgets once the girls are in bed!

I would transfer what you can even if you only save a couple of quid.

  • Right, it's budgetime...Have had all my monthly bills in now so can tot it up properly.

I was hoping to make up what I'd spendt in the savings n my glasses, but due to the reduction in income that's not going to be possible now as I'm having to alter my savings.

£200 is going into the holiday fund
£55 into the mortgage deposit account

I'm still £11.34 short on my overall bills for the month, but I can make this up from the weekly budgets and be back even. Thankfully this month is a no water/no council tax month!
There'll also be some changes in bills for my next wages. This month I'm paying double for my dental cover as it's the first payment, it's the last payment of my camera finance and also my sky will be reducing from next month so i will be better off. Just a shame that my nursery fees are going to be high next month though, due to the two week easter break! I could book a week off work to make it cheaper, but I ideally want to have 2 weeks off in the summer holidays as other wise the holiday club cost is going to be easily over a grand

    Anyway, here's my weekly budgets.

    Food £60.00
    Petrol £30.00
    Social £10.00
    School dinners £21.00
    Dance £20.00
    extra bills £11.34

    Total out £152.34
    Total in £228.09

    Surplus to CC £75.75

I've got a couple of interested buyers in a couple of the things I'm selling which, if they sell (buyers say they're collecting Weds) that's another £25 potentially to add to that.

I have realised, looking at my monthly budgets and holiday fund, that I have absolutely no idea how much I need to save up to have as spending money for Majorca for myself and the girls. My original aim was for £550ish. But I can't help but wonder if that's too much? I don't know, I could cut it down to £400 which would make the budgets a bit easier too and take some pressure off.

What do you guys think? What would you say is reasonable spending money for an adult and 2 kids for 7 nights in Majorca all inclusive??

I think I will, you know. It will also have the affect of making the 'big' card smaller and less intimidating!

  • Tell you what, the thought of my summer holiday club fees is giving me a right panic attack. I need to get my annual leave booked and start saving up I think. Considering it's £200+ for just a week and the school holidays are 5 weeks long PLUS I have to prepay for the september school club fees (easily £400) at the end of the previous school year...

OH dear god.. *breathes into a paper bag*

No wonder you are having a panic attack.
That is an amazing amount of money.
No chancde their dad could have a week off even?

If your holiday is all inclusive then I think £400 will be more than enough.
You just need money for a wee momento & maybe a wee trip or two.

It's not worth me even asking.

Think I'm going to lower by sights to £400 for the holiday then. It's been 8 years since I went on a foreign holiday, and have never done so with children or with one I've arranged so it's all new to me!
