I think that's to speed up the process at the end. I don't know if it is just me, but I see people getting all the way to having every bag in the trolley, and then the cashier says what the bill is, and then you see the deer in the lights impression.

    "I have to PAY?!"

Then they pull the shopping bag out from underneath the other bags, and unzp it, then pull their handbag out, then root in that for their purse, then they hunt around for the card...

At this point, most people in the queue have collapsed from heat stroke.

I just stuff my card in my pocket when I'm in the queue.

    Not for absolutely everything though.

The main thing I dont like bout Aldi is the rush at checkout.
Yesterday checkout person wanted me to put in debit card before all shopping had gone through.
So not sure what all that was about.
I shall stick with it though as as you say so much cheaper.

I hate that too. This one woman at ours just kind of grunts at you and only speaks to tell you to pay. I find it really rude! Good job it's cheap....

I find tinned pet food cheaper in ASDA. It's 54p a can in aldi and you can't buy multipacks, whereas a 6 can multipack in Asda is £2.49...

Struggling to think of others though lol

  • Seeing as I'm on a posting roll...

Back from dance and it cost £7.50 as there was only 2 of us today (as it was a private lesson for half hour it was £15 divided by how many people were there). I haven't gone shopping, and instead have gone to DP's house instead for a movie and a slob.

In other news I've sold my violin. Got £30 for it and am sad to see it go but it was just gathering dust and a waste really. I can always get another in the future if I find time to learn :)

Can't wait to update my budgets after shopping tomorrow and get my card paid off again. It's so sad that that's one of the highlights of my week! :rotfl:

It's usually stuff of the quality someone of taste wouldn't approach.

So mystery meat meatballs, tinned potatoes, sometimes their tinned curries are cheaper, paracetamol, and noodles.

Obviouisly someone wishing to follow a balanced diet should be careful... ;)

  • Afternoon!
Have done my food shopping and the girls have had their dance class so it's time to update the budgets!

    Dance: £8
    Aldi: £37.19
Asda: £22.28 (total food shop £59.47)

Really pleased with my shopping being under budget as I had to but flea stuff for the cat which was £5 alone. Woo :) Long live Aldi/Asda :rotfl:

All my bills have now gone out, which considering I have a budget of £20 leftover (£10 social, £10 train fares for tues!) I had £109.73 leftover which has been paid off the card and sig updated. Only £203 left! :T Sooo close to having it paid off now. :)

Going to have to rejig my budgets for the savings etc as for the next 6 months or so my income is dropping by £138 for reasons I won't go into on here. But I also want to see if there's any way of making that money up somehow by selling things or thinking of some other clever (but legal lol) money making scheme.

    Anyone got any bright ideas?

I NEED TO GET IN THE LOFT!! :rotfl:

Ooh I also need to call sky and get that cut down.... might do that this afternoon while I think about it!

  • Not long to go now for CC1 well done :T

Been looking round sofa shops today, still looking for one I like that isn't too big and doesn't cost a fortune. I have plenty of time. Got a few more bits and bobs for the kitchen, think I'm almost done on kitchen supplies actually, just need cutlery really now.

We got our full mortgage offer through on Wednesday :j and then we've opened our joint bills account (wages are staying separate) and Halifax gave me a credit card, going to use for everyday and then pay in full, if we spend £300/month and pay in full they give us £5 each month. I'll think of it as £5 free food/petrol.

My overdraft is paid off so I'll change my sig to say "money I owe savings" and once everything is sorted out and our money is settled down I'll pay that off.

Hopefully next week we'll find out our completion date. Exciting! :T:j

  • Have just gotten off the phone to sky and downgraded my package to get rid of the HD. Bill will be going down to around about £50pm from next month. Hurrah! It's not much, but it's a start!
That £50pm will include phone line rental, tv, calls, internet and the disney channel/cinemagic for the girls. Leaving that on for the time being as the disney channel is one of the main ones they watch but can always cancel it in future if that changes.

I'm also digging out some stuff to sell/ebay. DP is coming over to help me get in the loft too!

  • Happy Monday eve! Before I crack on and do dinner I thought I'd do a quick update as I've been very productive today!

Yesterday me and DP had a movie night in (after 2 hours of going "We're childfree, we should go out and do something!" before realising we had no idea what being 'child free' involves these days so ended up renting a movie and a game lol!). So out of my £10 'social budget' I spent £9.70 :)

I have also sorted out, and listed 12 items on gumtree, including my bass guitar amp/cab as I've decided to downsize it. My full rig is massive (see here! http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/bass-guitar-rig-gallien-krueger-amp-hartke-hydrive-cab/96798942 ) and it's making me not play as it's A) massive B) heavy and C) not very practical for just practicing indoors. So I'm going to get rid of it and get a smaller 'house friendly' practice amp. Hopefully I may have some change leftover too (presuming I manage to sell it of course..).

Keep your fingers crossed for me! :)
