  • Right, updated budgets! Headache and feeling like death is easing off a bit, thankfully!

    Food £60.00
    Petrol £25.00
Social £10.00 (Need to think creatively for valentines day!!)
School dinners £0.00 (Half term next week!)
    eye test £30.00 (estimated)
    Dance £20.00 (including extra session)
    Bills £311.11

    total out
    £456.11
    total in
    £553.44

    surplus to CC £97.33

Would like to get this up to £100 by saving on the food shopping. Also looking to see if I can find anything else to sell or trade in. NEarly finished playing Forza which I got as a christmas present from DP but as it was a present I wouldn't feel right selling it to pay off the card, and instead it's going to go towards paying for the girls' next game. :)

Just spotted a Norwich and peterborough BS account for people with dependants, which is 5% for a year (min deposit £1pm, max £250pm). Might be worth it for the year and then switch? Once the debt's paid off I definitely plan on putting in more than £250pm.... Hmmm.

    Edit:
I've sent off this this account. Even if I don't use it for mortgage deposit savings long term, I still have decent rate interest account which once it comes through I'll start putting the £51.50 into and I'll at least have something started in the meantime. I can't see me looking to buy within 12 months so it's worth getting a headstart. :)

Hope you don't mind me popping in - I used to be an avid follower of your diary - just wondered if you had seen the first direct regular saver - I think it might be attached to thier current account - but it pays 8% - you have to put in between 25 and 300 pounds a month for 12 months - but a great return! Might be worth a look

    Quick (and vague) update!
Think I've sorted DP's valetines pressie, and have gone for a personal touch which is also well within budget (not that the cost counts, but for spending diary purposes.... :rotfl:). I also made use of the £1.07 left on that amazon gift voucher I had.
My god I'm such a skinflint :rotfl: I'm pretty please with myself though :)

That's all I'm saying on the matter in case certain people read this (doubtful, but you can never be too careful! ;))

  • ....and for the complete set, this viral bug has now taken my eldest out too. So guess who's stuck at home again with a poorly child. I'm still not feeling 100% but better than yesterday. This bug seems to be weird in that it knocks you about for about 24 hours then clears up which I can't complain at, but it seems to spread really easily. Oh well. Guess it'll give me a chance to catch up on the housework.

Only problem is I've run out of tea bags!! NOOOOOOOO!

  • Evening all. Went to street class even though I felt naff. Eldest is ok but had a raging temperature earlier poor mite. She seems to be baring up well though all things considering. It's a horrible bug this!

Have updated my spending diary. £4 on dance spent today, but extra team session on friday is likely to be £7.50 as there's only 4 of us instead of the 6 originally planned. But we're going to see what happens. But as my dance budget is £20 for all our classes I'll still have 60p leftover. Just means I won't have any £1 coins now. That was my main source of poundage!! Whatever will I do now? Half tempted to pay off the £1s I have already either off the card or into the mortgage fund (which is looking very pathetic at a whole £1 at the minute :rotfl:). £1 pot currently stands at £13 which of course isn't a lot, but it all helps! Especially if my regular source of £1 coin funding is going to be limited now and it's going to sit there stagnant..

Hmmm what to do. It is totally extra money.... but it is better to pay it off the card to get it down quicker, or lump it into the savings account?

My god it's taken me ages to get onto here tonight. Think the site has serious issues going on in the background. MSE CAN'T CRASH!? My nerves wouldn't be able to take it :rotfl:
Didn't update yesterday as was totally floored by an absolutely horrendous headache because of this viral bug. Was in bed in agony by 6pm  Feeling much more human today thankfully! Don't want to go through THAT again...

Anyway, thanks to feeling more human we did our shopping today.

Budget was £60 as per normal

    £40.57 in Aldi
£22.14 in ASDA for what I couldn't get in ALDI
Total £62.71. Poo. £2.71 overbudget AND I've forgotten the cat food. Taking £1 out of my personal budget to get a couple of tins tomorrow.

Also have another £2 out of 'my' budget left which is going on parking in town as I've got my eyetest tomorrow. Was trying to find the cost of their eyetests online but can't find a 100% accurate price. Guesstimates seem to be about £20-£25 and I've budgeted £30, so should be ok there and have some left over.

Haven't yet got my petrol as I've still got some left thanks to being sick this week and not using as much, so will be getting £20 worth in town tomorrow where's it's about 5p per litre cheaper. Hurrah! I'm sure it'll make all of about 30p difference. lol.

I've also got to go to the bank tomorrow and put some money in. £23.50 to be exact, £13 of which is from the £1 coin pot, 50p just loose in my purse and £10 given to me by a family member. Going to put it in the bank and then pay it off the card extra.

Have updated my spending diary/budgets (I also have to confess to a packet of crisps for 50p yesterday because I was feeling so sh*te.) and with the extra money, if my eyetest is bang on £30 I'll have £122.27 leftover to pay off the card, so I'm hoping that the eyetest is cheaper as I'll have even more to pay off and it'll be a fab week for debtbusting! Will DEFINITELY be happy if I can pay nearly £130 off this week. I'm really really happy being able to pay £122.27 off, but if I can off any extra that would be awesome!

So close to having it paid off now... I really hope I can get it clear by the beginning of March at that would be amazing. This only sticking point is that I'm likely to need new glasses. BUT based on current estimates I might have around £230 leftover from my wages this month which should cover my glasses plus extra leftover, so fingers crossed! It's looking like I'm on target to do it anyway. :D

£888 possibly cleared in 2 months isn't bad going at all!

  • Hurrah it's Friday! And you know what that means, it's debt busting and paying off the credit card daaaaay (tm).

    First my spending diary update:
    petrol £20
    parking £1.20
cat food £1 (good old poundland, 2 for £1 :rotfl:)
    eye test £24.95
    dance £7.50

Eye test went well. Eyes fine and prescription still the same, but because I've been having tired eyes they've recommended I limit my time at computers. Eeeeer. Ok. That's great but 80% of my work is computer related. :rotfl: Oh dear...

Anyway, I don't officially need new glasses for a change in prescription, but as mine are fairly marked and wobbly, I've decided to get some new ones anyway. I just need to actually find a pair that suit me! Harder than it sounds...
I did have a look at the online places, but I struggle finding something that suits me and I'm really picky so prefer to be able to try frames on there and then.

The extra street practice today was brilliant. Team stuff is so much harder than normal classes though and my GOD I hurt now. I seriously doubt I will be able to walk tomorrow.

Have come back and redone my budgets. Had £126.61 leftover after my bills etc so have paid that off the CC. Sig updated.

Only £323.33 to go! Nearly there :)

  • And so here we are again. Monday Eve. Whoever decided to make weekends so short has a lot to answer for..

Went out with the family and chose my new glasses today. Specsavers had an offer on where if you buy any frames you get basic lenses + thinning for free so I bought some from there. Although I did go for a small upgrade on the lenses because I have a very strong prescription so need them thinning as much as possible otherwise they look like milk bottles, but the upgrade was only £20 extra so including the frames which were £85 it came to £105 all in and they'll be here next week. Because it was cheaper than I expected I ended up using my holiday savings and will pay it back on payday instead of waiting two weeks to order them and then another week for them to arrive :)

While we were out we also grabbed lunch and went in and mooched at the peacocks sale again seeing as they're still selling everything off. Managed to get a top and a skirt for the girls for £7. Bargain.

So all in all my spending diary has been updated with:
    girls' clothes £7
    lunch £13.76
    glasses £105
    Total today: £125.76

I've added £126.76 to my 'holiday fund' budget for when I get paid to make that up. Will still have money leftover to pay off the card too so I'm happy with that. :P Based on an estimate of my nursery fees being £390 (rough average) I'd have £105 spare so it's definitely looking good for having my card paid off by the end of the month even with this little splurge :)

    Hurrah!
