  • Happy monday! Have done my banking/budgets and as my money's gone in today I've paid £63 and £28 (plus odd pence but I've forgotten how much between updating my sig and writing this! Sig is up to date though.. lol) off the credit card. It's back to under £500 now which is definitely good news!

Won't be paying anything off the credit card now until next week, as we're going to be spending on my youngest's birthday this week. :)

Will be back to paying off with gusto after her birthday though! Want that £450odd cleared by the end of feb so I can pay off the 0% BNPL. :) Once this credit card is closed I will most definitely be closing it though. There's no need to have two barclaycards!!

  • Evening all. I'm watching superscrimpers and trying to get some tips. :rotfl: it's quite scary though because I'm already doing most of what they're doing but more extreme!

    Anybody else watching it?

  • Talking about superscrimping, it's budget time :rotfl: Nothing to add to spending diary today, I've been a good girl!

    Food £60.00
    Petrol £25.00
Social £0.00 (going to spend my budget on my daughter :))
    School dinners £21.00
    Daughter's present £50.00
    Birthday cake £10
Dance £5.00 (the girls won't be dancing this week as we're off out instead)
    Birthday trip out £20

    total out £156.00
    total £227.34

    surplus £36.34

Considering I've allocated £80 for my youngest's birthday and still have £36.34 left, I'm considering paying that off the card. To spend any more would be a bit excessive really I think! It would also be a definite bonus to be able to pay some off the credit card and treat my youngest for her birthday :)

Haven't posted my monthly budgets for a while so thought I'd do an update on those too.

    Money in for monthly budgets:

    Wages: £1497.83
    Maintenance: £138
    Total in: £1635.83

    Bills out:
    Rent £329.73
    Council Tax £0 (free month)
    Water £23.98
    Gas/elec £60.00
    Barclaycard min payment £38.71
    Barclayloan £161.28
    Sky £64.37
    TV licence £12.37
    Camera finance £51.50
    orange £31.83
    AA £7.54
    Car Tax £63.25
    Car insurance £43.00
    Dentist £17.00
    Life insurance £5.00
    CRUK £2.00
    Pet Insurance £5.43
    Nursery fees £282.00
    Holiday club £241.00
    Kids' savings £138.00
    House Insurance £9.08
    Licence £20.00

    Total out £1607.07

Spare £28.76 which was paid off credit card this morning :)

So.. I suppose the decision is, have a weekend of spoiling the girls using the spare money, or stick to the planned budget and then pay some extra off the credit card?

But do you really need to treat the girls?
You do give them a few treats already.
Does Sky includev your BB & home phone?

I don't need to, I suppose it's the mental thing of "Well it IS her birthday, and I'm massive skinflint the rest of the time" :rotfl:

Sky is line rental, calls, tv (including HD until I can cancel it in March and reduce it by £10, the girls also have cinemagic for £5pm..) and internet (Recently reduced by £10 because they upgraded the line). My phone/calls/internet is the cheapest I can get in a package for my area, so I'm basically paying extra for the tv.
As much as it's a luxury, I'd miss sky+ now, as I rarely get chance to watch what I want to so will record everything including movies etc. The girls also have cinemagic as they were spending loads of money in blockbuster, but in all honesty they're not watching it as much now as they've seen most movies so might cancel that along with the HD and reduce the bill by £15 a month..

  • Good morning! Quick update from me before I start work, the wonders of mobile internet. Payday today, so I've paid my bills, renewed my driving licence (£20 ), and bought my car tax (£63 ). Pesky car and its expense! Also had to pay 50p for an envelope and stamp to send my old driving licence back to the DVLA, so will update my spending diary when I get home.
It's pouring down with rain here today... What a miserable day!

  • Update for the spending diary, had to take my eldest to the docs after a call from school, and spent £2.85 on some paracetomol liquid medicine for her while she waits for a urine test to come back. Poor chick. I tell you what though, no prenatal are parenting class can prepare you for having to get a urine sample from a 6 year old! :rotfl:

Off to dance tonight, and will be spending £4 on that with £1 spare for the super secret fund.. hurrah!

  • Forgive me Martin, for I have sinned. While mooching on Amazon for what to spend my £15 trade in on, I got suckered into temptation to buy them now. *waves goodbye to £13.89* My justification? I needed, sorry, wanted new music for the car and my ipod. You watch my amazon money get credited tomorrow now. I did also download loads of free tracks that I found on there, if that's any kind of consolation...... maybe? No? Damn.
Oh well. I'll have to be an extra good moneynerd this week and try and get my food shop as low as poss to make up for some of it.

    Naughty girl!! :wall:
