Also has anyone else yet experienced what I can only call "the mini melt down?!" which includes panic & tears... or is it just me so far?!

Nope I had one of those last week! I've been pretty ok so far at not getting sucked into all the wedding madness but just had a freakout last week because I was sick of doing absolutely everything myself (for various reasons). There's only so many shops you can go in looking for a certain shade of tie or heel height before the meltdown commences!
OH and I have got quite a few things done this week so feeling more positive :)

    Hi all!!!

I'm getting more and more excited as we get closer and closer to August!!! AND I've actually built up the courage to try on dresses and picked "the one"! :) The ladies in the bridal shops that I've been to initially put the fear of god into me by telling me how late in the day I'd left it but the lady in the last shop I went into was lovely and the dress is exactly what I wanted! :)

We've finished designing our invites and have just sent the files off to the printers! I can't wait to send them out and start getting rsvps back!!! Just got to get our website finished before we send them! Quick question - are you putting stamps on the rsvps? We've been debating it for ages and not sure what to do!

How is everyone else doing? Hope you all had lovely Easters!

Morning geh201! Glad you found your dress! Sounds exciting :) Mine has arrived after my order in August so I am hoping to have my fitting at the weekend...so nervous about it though as I fear I will not get in it! Especially after all the Xmas feasts and chocolate Easter eggs!! Is anyone else still not yet motivated for the gym?..

Sounds like you are getting quite organised and its coming together for you now! In regards to your RSVP's I would personally think that you shouldn't put stamps on them. You will find that people are terrible at replying, and if you are designing a website will that also have an RSVP option on there to? Either way the expenditure for the stamps that people may not send back will leave you out of pocket...It's a very nice, thoughtful idea but I would hate to think you do that at your own cost and you do not receive much response via post - and its not that people do not want to come or anything its purely something people are not very good at!..

Hello ladies, hoping it is ok if I join you? I am getting married on 10th August this year, have only just found this thread!

We are getting married at a local church with a reception at a nearby village hall. I have my dress (ebay) and shoes, bridesmaids' dresses, caterers, photographer booked. The main thing outstanding is the menswear.

We haven't put stamps on our RSVPs but have given an email address, although most people I think will just tell us verbally and not send back the pretty RSVP cards I lovingly handmade :D

This thread has me very excited!

  • We're not putting stamps on the RSVPs - thinking is that it is a waste if people don't return them, and that whereas we would need a lot of stamps everyone who is RSVPing only needs one!

    Morning all,
I hope you're all zipping through your lists of things to do at breakneck speed. I'm getting married on Friday 9th August - 3 months 28 days away!
I have finally picked and paid for a dress via EBay, wedding lingerie ordered, shoes bought, OH bought a suit, venue for wedding and reception is booked, deposit paid, DJ paid, photographer booked.
There's still quite a bit to do but I'm not feeling too stressed with it all at the minute.
I have a design for our invitations and will be printing them at on a quality colour printer and putting them together either this weekend or next with a view to getting them out before the end of April. We're asking for RSVPs via email address we set up especially - non emailing family can rsvp by phone or post. Just realised I need to confirm the meal at our reception venue so I can give the choice on the invite! Doh!
We're not doing a honeymoon until next year so no booking worries with that. We're not having bridesmaids either so flowers will be minimal - a bouquet and a few button holes. The cake, tasters are ordered but I think we will be going with Waitrose - depending on the flavour! We're also decided on our wedding rings but haven't bought them yet either.

How is everyone else doing? Are there any major things on your to do lists that aren't getting your attention until closer to the day? Have you all decided how you're having your hair etc? Plan for the actual day? Will the groom see the bride the morning of the wedding or will you been seen for the first time when you walk up the aisle?
I am excited to be having a wedding day but I look forward to the week after this is all over and I am Mrs W!
    Em ;-)

    Hey!

Yeah, we've now added a proper RSVP section to the website and gone with not putting stamps on! As you all say, a nice touch but I can't bear the thought of wasting money when people don't send them back!

freightexec2009 - I bet you're really excited about trying it on again after picking it a while ago! I'm having ups and downs with the gym and diet! Some weeks I'm super motivated and go every other day, some weeks I'm really lazy and can't be bothered!!!

EmsLdn - you sound super organised! My mum has insisted that I now have a "to do list" spreadsheet...so that's the next job I supposed! She wants to know what needs doing and what deadlines she's got! Blimey! Keeping it traditional, and my other half won't be seeing me until I walk down the aisle (from about 8pm the night before!), I think it keeps it more exciting!!!

Hi all, I still haven't finished sending out my invitations, very naughty as I have sent some! Still gathering a few addresses.

I suggested to OH that we may as well spend the night before the wedding together and he was horrified! He isn't normally the traditional type but I have to say he has surprised me with a few things. I think its only because he's planning on sneaking off to the pub though ;)

The main thing we have left to organise is suits, OH saw one he loved but we couldn't get the sizes we needed so he is disheartened!

geh201 - I am the same with diet/exercise, super motivated one minute and rubbish the next! I think I need to try my dress on again to spur me on - it fits but just makes me want to tone my arms up as it is strapless. Mine is also from eBay but it is at my mums, have only tried it on once since I bought it in October!

  • Hello all, waw....you all sound so organised, thats great!:)

Before writing up your invitations, did you ask the invitees for the correct spelling of their names?

geh201 - I have been trying to go on a diet and do abit of exercise for awhile now, but its like a roller coaster :oand the tummy area definitely need abit of flattening.

EmsLdn - I haven't decided on a hairstyle yet, but I think a nice up do will definitely work for me.

The last time the groom would see me is on the Friday before our wedding day on Sunday, would be with the bridesmaids on a pamper weekend:D.

I still have loads to do. I haven't gotten the dresses yet, both for myself and the bridesmaids. I am in the process of designing the invitations, hoping to start distribution by end of next month.
