Just had a hairdresser come round and quote for the kind of thing I was thinking for me and my bridesmaids and I'm shocked at the prices! She's quoted about £300 for me and my 3 bridesmaids (with a trial for me and one bridesmaid) - is this about right and am I well off the money? The problem I have is that it's all very simple things that I want - nothing too fussy! Thoughts? x0

Dear Lord! Sorry, hairdresser is at the top of my list of things still to arrange so I don't know if this is normal but I really hope not!0 -
Just jumping in from the july thread but i am having mine and 3 bridesmaids hair done for £90 altogether and paid £30 for a trial for me and one bridesmaid. This is being done by someone local who has just started up their own salon so probably cheaper but £300 seems a lot! I was quoted about £180 for hair and make up and trial just for me by someone so i guess it might be what people pay.0

Hiya , my hairdresser is charging me £25 for my hair and £15 for my bridesmaid , and if have a trial it will be £15 ... I guess everyone charges differently tho so have a shop around before you settle on someone as £300 does seem steep xx0

Hiya - I am paying by the hour for my hairdresser - it worked out cheaper than per person - still it will come to about £300 for the three hours she expects to be with us - to cover my hair, three adult and two child bridesmaids, my sister and a close family friend who will be there. You could ask for a few more quotes before you make a decision and then use it as a bargining point?
What is worrying me is that I will have a trial with my own hairdresser and then I need to have really good pictures for the lady doing it on the day as I am not getting married close to where I live.
My countdown timer shows that I now have 99 days to go - feels a bit strange to be in two figures!
And, having resigned myself to having a civil ceremony as opposed to the religious one I hoped for, I found out last night that I will be able to have the wedding I want. I now have to start again with sorting out the legal aspects of the day, but hey, who cares! I am just so pleased we can do it all in one go!0 -
Hi - Just wanted to say hello. Getting married 18th August in Stirling. Things going really well (I think) and all the big stuff is done. My wonderful friend is making my dress and we are just waiting for the RSVPs to come back now. Keeping it reasonably small (never in my wildest dreams would I have called almost 100 people small before now!!) and thankfully darling Daddy is helping out lots.0

Ye Gods! that seems extortionate - I just used my normal hairdresser. He did three trials before the big day for me (for free and he tried about 5 different styles!) and on the day only charged me £25. My daughter had her hair put up with pins etc and she only paid £15. In fact paying the hairdresser and the make up lady (they both work in the same shop!) was £75 for me and my daughter - everything done in one place - nice and relaxed - and the two of us looking and feeling wonderful!!
Is your hairdresser coming to you at home or your venue? Because that can push up your costs - try and keep everything low key and stress free - there's a lot to be said for escaping the manic atmosphere at home if there's a load of people milling about - if you can pop out to the hairdressers for a little pamper and beautifying!! :A
SwampyExpect the worst, hope for the best, and take what comes!!:o0 -
