i am going to have a go at making the gloop now, bought some soap today. i'm going to make a half quantity as i've not got a lot of space. still ahve tons of ariel tabs left but i'll just alternate for a while

only things i am concerned about:

    1. will it wreck my nice stainless steel pan?
    2. i live in a hard water area, won't wreck my machine will it?

    thanks - Rachel

  • Hi

I've got the recipie for gloop and for HM laundry powder. Do they work? Have a son who gets very grubby at times. Should I add borax? Will I need to add ecover laundry bleach every now and then to brighten things up?

#9 of this thread seems to give a big thumbs up for the gloop!
  • Thanks for the thread. I will give it a go. Have a fantastic hardware store near me where I got Borax from so I will try the powder I think as my storage space is limited.:j

i'm bumping this up as someone asked a question about it!

it's ages since the last post about gloop, i was a bit disappointed with the results when i used it (when things has spills etc down them) on normal clothes but it was great on towels, bedding, my dressing gown etc. i STILL have 2 tablets left from my ariel box of 48 or whatever it was....i must do a lot let washing than the rest of you! as i'm moving soon i'm using up some economy powder and some ariel liquid i found in the cupboard...should see me through til january!!

I am off to Lidl today ( a real treat for me - as it is not local!) and I am going to pick up some cheap soap and get some washing soda and make some gloop. It really is great for dark clothes. I recently used some wp (reduced from Sainsburys) and it left great big white streaks on all my dark clothes so they had to be washed and rinsed through again (hardly money saving).
