f you have stains make a mix of half and half washing up liquid and salt, rub it on before washing, take care with fabrics you suspect may be sensitive to this;)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Thought id better post a link as some1 had pm'd me for it and gloop seems to be a recurring query/topic on here.
Have duly copied out this recipe to try.
Can anyone tell me the weight of a "standard" bar of soap - as thats not what I have in at present - and I am thinking I cant see any reason not to use up odds and sods of bits of soap to make this (so just want to weigh up the appropriate quantity).
Thanks.0 -
I would love to use this but I'm a little concerned at using soap because both myself and eldest son have eczema and soap irritates it. We currently use Fairy non-bio and Comfort Pure and that seems fine.
Would love to hear from anyone who has had any experience with skin conditions and gloop!0 -
I have been using the gloop for a while now and have had no problems. Both my kids suffer from flare ups of eczema and OH swears the only thing his skin can handle is Persil non bio. They have all been fine. Also you could also replace the fabric conditioner with white vinager as this will eliminate any soap residue left on your clothes.

Hi all.
A few years back, I switched over to using wash gloop. The recipe I used is here
http://www.gaia-exchange.sunmaia.net/laundrygloop.htm
Now, I was 'ok' with the results. It wasn't as good as Ariel, which I went back to, but the main problem I found was, even using vinegar in the dispenser drawer, I ended up with a sticky film all over everything.
I live in a hard water area, and we do tend to have a lot of soap scum - I think it's due to this.
Has anyone in a hard water area found something successful? Obviously, there being six of us, we use a lot of detergents, and the cost of that is an issue, but so is the amount of carp I'm flushing into the waters.
I'm thinking there MUST be a way around this somehow.
I also need something fairly stain busting, as my youngest (just turned five) is a filth magnet
So, any ideas, or do I just stick with Ariel. I tried the ecovers and the like, and found the results for a clean wash even worse than the wash gloop (although no sticky build up with that), plus, it's costy.

Hi Hawthorn,
There's an earlier thread discussing laundry gloop and how effective it is so I've added your post to it to keep the replies together.

We have psoriasis and eczema and we are fine with it.. but I use the tesco 'pure' soap OR baby soap and have once used a bar of lush soap and left out the oils.. worked just as well..
I do find gloop is rubbish on whites though.. they do go quite grey unless you add a dro of bleach which I think defeats the object.. and if you put it in the drawer you need to run your machine through a hot wash once a week to get rid of the residue or else it stinks!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
