Would just like to say Thank you to this thread. I made my first batch of gloop yesterday and have done 4 batches of washing. It gets the clothes really clean I added a tiny amount of lavender to it and they smell great. I have to say it's great knowing what's in it and making it yourself way cheaper than branded powder/tablets.:smileyhea:heart: Mrs Lea Nov 5th '11

Well im so glad I found this thread!!
As a soapmaker I often end up with 'offcuts' of soap after i've cut the bars so today I grated some up, added washing soda and borax to make gloop. I have just taken the washing out of the machine and its sooooo soft and clean!!
I put in a dirty footie shirt of my sons so I could give the gloop a good test and i'm very impressed!! Not so keen on the smell though as it just stinks like vinegar (from the rinse) Will add a bit of essential oil next time.
The only thing that worries me is that my homemade soaps are full of shea butter and other moisturising oils so I hope I dont clog up my machine... its a brand new miele!
Cant wait to try it on my towels tomorrow!!
Thank you :T0 -
It shouldnt clog - my very first batch of gloop was made with homemade soap:)Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Here's a quote from a previous thread, I think you need to grate the soap:Sarahsaver wrote:Laundry gloop has one bar of soap, one cup (8oz) soda crystals, and 4 litres of water, and it always works, sets like jelly. Hope this may help.
And I guess you use it for...laundry.Official DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
