Buy a car.
I have one. I dont travel with the Proletariat because many of them do not know how to behave to my acceptable standards..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -

I can only say that I have never come across such behaviour from elderly people. I used to travel on the train to and from work, and the worst were children and young people who made a racket, and generally were annoying. I have never seen an elderly person prod someone with a walking stick, that certainly would be out of order.
Some elderly people do have difficulty due to poor eyesight, and illnesses such as osteo athritis which can make life painful. I suppose to some people the elderly can seem a pain because they move more slowly, and they take their time to sit down and stand up, but I doubt there is much that can be done about that.
As for the poster who referred to someone aged 50 as elderly, cripes!Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0 -

The wheelchair sign indicates priority should be given to those with a disablitiy and the old lady WAS disabled due to mobility problems. When you're a teenager, it's hard to imagine what it's like to be old and frail. Poor attitude is the crux of this incident, lots of people need to be more kind and tolerant and manners cost nothing. I have to say I agree whith the point made by others about the prams and buggies being far too large these days.

I was on the bus the other day and a woman got on with a toddler in a pushchair and a slightly older toddler walking. She parked the pushchair in the wheelchair space then took the child out. They all then went to the back of the bus to sit down.
In effect. the woman paid one fare as the children were too young to need paying for. For her one fare she got 2 seats where the buggy was parked and 3 seats at the back of the bus for herself and 2 toddlers. Very moneysaving!!!If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything. - Mark TwainNappies and government ministers need to be changed frequently and for the same reason0 -
I know this is an old post and I'm (fairly young) myself, I suffer from a chronic pain condition and have offered my seat numerous times to an O.A.P with 99% of the time rcieving no thank you or a snarl if I'm Lucky! Same goes with opening doors for them ect, no manners whatsoever. When the bus/train has been overfull what gives them a right for them to think their bags need a place too? I have asked a few of them to move them but they either act like I'm joking or have got A.D.S or something. They've no shame whatsoever and even after proving you've booked the seat so reluctantly move there's no sorry just a few choice words under their breath. If the old are to go by we're going to be living in a worse country in the next decades.......0

I've witnessed the 'pram wars' many times and a few times had a wheelchair user/parent with pram having a go at the driver because they've been denied access to the previous couple of buses.
One time the bus was packed around Christmas time, full of commuters also and the driver had to ask some people to get off the bus to make room. This involved people arguing with each other - some had bought single fare tickets and being ejected halfway on their journey insiting those with travelcards being made to leave. There was another bus I could have got so I got up and as I got off down the front I noticed this old lady struggling to get off with a heavy bag of shopping. Shocked that some younger fitter person had watched her give up her seat and get off, I asked/told this teenager to get up and let her sit down. His face was a picture.
Also some good points been made about younger disabled passengers who people assume are fit and able. Although I don't have a permanent disability, I had labyrinthitis last year (google it) and mistakenly thought I could get down to my dr on the bus.
So there I was, staggering on the bus, bouncing off doors and then being told to move out of the disabled space by someone who wasn't even using it. I listened to people tutting and making references to me being 'drunk' and stuff. I had to get the driver to stop a few times as I threw up and got more dirty looks. I got off the bus and burst into tears - never again!£2 Savers Club 2014 #74 - £4840
