and as a regular bus user Im yet it see that happen.
I often cross th city by bus and make sub 5 mile journeys on mainly single deckers(so 1 shared space)

If I had a problem, what exactly would you do about it?
try and stick to the facts and dont bother getting aggressive doll

    pmsl, ooo the big man

So you are a regular bus user in Bristol?... if not then you can't possibly comment on something you don't see because you are not there.
having a disability doesnt give you the right to dictate that others shouldnt have X because you didnt in your time.

making assumptions like this, which are false and uncalled for.

I think you are confused old chap, i said about how parents folded down their buggies back then, parents don't tend to bother now, regardless if someone with a greater need, needs it - this is based on what i have seen myself.

I think it's you that needs to stick to the facts of your knowledge and not what you think you know.

That is correct,if the space for the buggy is available, it can be used, but the seats are not specifically for the parents, in fact they state that he seats are for the elderly or infirm.

Now if anyone could answer, what would anyone do if somebody with a buggy refused to fold it to allow somebody with a wheelchair to board?

Also i have been personally sworn at on many an occasion by mothers (mainly) but occasionally fathers, simply for telling them the buggy they are trying to board with will have to be folded because there is already a buggy on the bus.

must be a different mind set.
    here its simply the norm
the parent either agrees or simply lets the bus go for the next one.
I have seen tantrums when those with non folding prams are refused entry but its a more recent rule and a bit less well known.
also its seems a certain type of person goes for that type of pram ;)

I travel regularly by bus with my son in his buggy. Buses here have 1 wheelchair/ pram space and another where you can get a pram in. I've only ever had problems once when there were already 3 buggys on (you can get 2 in the wheelchair space if you squeeze up) and a woman with a side-by-side double wanted to get on. Driver told her she has to fold it or wait for the next one (15 minutes) and she kicked off big time. I was in the small space and would have offered to move but the doubles won't fit in that space, you need the whole of the wheelchair space. She was screaming at the driver to make the other 2 ladies fold theirs, which would have involved waking 2 sleeping babies. And her 2 were both awake. Just a horrible attitude. And I would always fold mine if a wheelchair needed the space.

I have had similar on many occasions, if only i didnt need the money i would tell some of these mums what to do.

sorry but really!! why cant you fold your buggy, baby under arm, teach your toddler to stand still and get your shopping on the bus...

I'm a in my day poster.. back in 1995 when i had my son, i managed, fold the buggy one handed, a weeks worth of shopping on the buggy, baby on hip, didnt have a car so car seat was only used when i was taken out by car, but more often the bus was my transport...

we all managed, why is it so difficult now.. or is it more not can't do but won't/why should i

The majority do, but some parents from certain estates seem unable to string a sentence together without adding f****** bus drivers, or w***** to it.

Personally i would simply allow it to be a first come first served basis, particularly on the routes i work on which have a frequency of between every 3.5 to every 10 minutes.

Another argument could be that those with buggies are more likely to be fare paying, as opposed to those in wheelchairs who wont be paying..

I really dont(well didnt.I never bother with the buggy on the bus now) mind wheelchairs being 'top dog'
wheelchairs aren't that common (eg you are unlikely to get 2 on one journey)and in general parents seem to work it out fine(well everywhere except Bristol)
I think they key might actually be explicit rules so the drivers know where the stand on the issue.

Ok so you have an explicit rule that a wheelchair user gets priority, since when have people taken notice of rules, yes the majority probably will, but i can guarantee that there will always be some who wont.
