Brag brag brag brag brag...

Hello all, update from post 504, 16p so far in December
I threw away a cucumber tonight, it had been lurking in the fridge for quite a whileI bought it as salad bits with jacket spuds, but of course (and I should have known) its too cold now for that sort of dinner so we didn't use it.
I'm sure it was from Aldi, so I'm guessing about 50p
The crusts of about 2 loafs as well. Guess about 16 slices in a loaf at £1.20 a loaf.
I'll round it upto £1.00 so far for December.0 -
I have got rid of 1 cherry tom out of a pack I think it was £1.20 a pack say there's 20 in there that's 6p
I made a lentil dinner which I had to bin the left overs say 40p
hubby binned some left over soup which I think would work out at about 20p
So that's 66p worth of waste for us this week which is really good as we normally have so much waste and dont even think about it.February GC £261.97/24 NSDS 10/12

Well I need to add another 5p or so for a thumbnail sized piece of ginger which was too mouldy and wrinkled to salvage. 25p so far, but have hopefully planned so that there will be virtually no wastage between now and the month end (made a lot easier by going away to relatives for a week!!).0

Just dropping in quickly to say hello to everyone really, and to brag -- this is a bit of a cheaty brag, because I need to check the fridge today so I may post again later. But so far, nothing to report except -- Ocado broke an egg so that went out, but obviously they've refunded the cost of the whole packet so that's 8 free eggs rather than one wasted one...; and I dropped the end of a bottle of tahini on the floor which is more sort of misfortune than waste.
So we're still at £1.83. Astonishing. It's amazing how much it drops once you start paying attention, as others have said. I'm buying less too.Make £2023 in 2023: (all decluttering), current total £2860 me, £330 for friends & family, £468 charity donations.0 -
Please help - I have 4 pots of strawberry yoghurt bought for grandson but I will not see him until after Xmas (well, yes, will have Xmas day foods with DD so count that out really). I am not keen myself, do not particularly want smoothies !!! Saw a recipe somewhere to make a sort of jelly thing but cannot locate it again (n.b. New Year - bookmark stuff). I love puds, freezer full, am one person (diabetic too), have lots of usual bread, eggs, milk etc etc, even some gelatine (not sure how to use). Any advice greatfully recd, try really really hard not to throw away ANYTHING - am a real horder.
Thanks all and Merry Christmas.0 -

Btw leaf gelatine should be softened in a few tbsp of liquid - can be water, or anything you intend to use it with, for example champagne for champagne jellies, orange juice, whatever - and then melted in a saucepan and added to your recipe and powdered gelatine should be dissolved in a few tbsp of water and then the bowl placed into some gently simmering water to melt it. Don't boil it though.
I think it's around 1 pack powdered gelatin to around 450mls of liquid - using a bit more liquid will give a softer set. Off the top of my head, it's around 4ish sheets that is equal to one pack of powdered gelatine. You shouldn't be 'scared' or unsure of any ingredients because the recipes will tell you exactly how to do it and then, once you're used to it, you can make your own recipes.
Sorry, that was a big btw0
