I've seen her make it on TV & it looks lovely.0 -
There's an existing thread with lots of ideas on using up stale bread so I've added this thread to it to keep the ideas together.

Hi there,
Can anyone help me? My gran used to make a pudding using stale bread and I can't remember it at all.
It's not Bread and Butter pudding, but it was a pudding. It had Plumbs, blackberries, black currants, raspberries and red currants as far as I can remember.
Any ideas anyone? I'd be grateful for any recipes with the above.

It sounds like summer pudding.

I have three lurking on my counter, looking at me reproachfully.... from before I got sick last week.
Any suggestions on what I can do with them. I was thinking perhaps as crumbs for an apple crumble... would that work?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Toasted with lashings of real butter?
Yes crumble topping is what I was thinking as I read your post! You could freeze them to toast for an emergency breakfast - I toast them from frozen the rare time I do buy them. Mmmm bagels
Bread and butter pudding (or a variation of)
You should get some ideas in the main breadcrumbs thread (even though they are sweet)
Also stale bread - what to do with it should offer plenty of suggestions. I'll merge your thread with that one later
Thanks:j

I've thought of bread and butter pudding, and bread pudding with mixed fruit and spices, and croutons. Oh, and feeding it to the hens.
Has anyone else got any ideas what I can do with this huge stale monster on my bread board? I bought it by mistake.
TIA
