Cathy, I thought I was the only person in the world to do savoury bread pudding!
Great recipe! I do mine similar to yours but add finely chopped sauteed broccoli.
Stale bread also makes very good stuffing of course!

I make bread pudding with mine.
Soak bread in half a pint for milk for about half hour, add 1 egg, as much dried fruit as you like, couple of teaspoons of mixed spice, 4oz sugar, and 2oz butter or marg. squidge it all together till well mixed, put in a well greased tin for about and hour on 200 C.
Cut into squares and sprinkle sugar on the top.
