i'm not including my son in this and i know IS doen't include children now.
He maybe in full time education for the next 2 years but he is now 16
But, when you marry or live with a partner, you're no longer a lone parent, regardless of the ages of your children.

I know, i won't be claiming anything for him, because as rightly put, i will no longer be a single/lone parent.

Mupette, I don't think there's anything you can claim for due to your partners income.

The only thing I can think of is applying for DLA
  • couples working tax credits if the income of your OH is low?

and if you are renting you could be entitled to housing or council tax benefit, again depending on income of OH.

Yes this is what i am thinking, the worry is he works for an agency, (long term) so if he doesn't work he doesnt get paid..

this is where the need for me to get a job would help us greatly, only you tell my body and brain that :o

I have DLA already lady_gaga. as already said, i do get everything i should get right now, and will loose most of it when i marry (rightly so)

I'm already cutting back, the usual that would be advised,

even looking to do an OU course in bookkeeping, only dopey me had the forms all back yesterday because i didnt fill them in properly - thats a great start. bloody brain of mine.

i'm looking or i was just before the relapse, at going to dwp now and seeing if i have a disabled advisor, who can get me in touch with remploy (remploy have already told me they will talk to me only when i have been sent via dwp) to work in a supermarket.

my consultant last month told me there wasnt much i could do, no manual, and as for using the brain... hmmm but i would happily work in a supermarket but, i hate winter in a supermarket or anywhere public (done it many years before) the sneezing and coughing and people not covering their nose/mouth and guess who ends up getting sick...

I want to get back in to the land of living (work) but don't know what i would be capable of..but am willing to give anything a go, that doesnt compromise my health.

There is no way i could be an I.T. engineer again, the knowledge and information is lost forever in the grey sludge matter....

looked at working from home, but i'm seeing lots of scams that i want to avoid, or those American companies and you get paid via paypal and loose a chuck of money through the currency conversion...

Millions of people fit and healthy out of work, all desperate, i wonder who would look at me..

I am confused and really looking for some answers if possible.

currently on ESA (income) but will loose that when i get married.

OH and me are looking at our incomes and i am starting to worry what if i can't get a job, just as i thought i could start looking i have relapse and spend the next 4 weeks with major fatigue beyond belief.

I understand that i can't go onto ESA (contributions) as you can't swap from income to cont.

what about income support, i have looked at direct gov, and tbh my brain isnt sinking the information in, or isnt clear (maybe just me)
OH works 35 hours per week but i can't see where if anywhere it states the amount of income coming into the household (when we are married)

I only want to claim for me. If this was something i could consider.. but i know that OH's income will come into this factor of availablity

can someone shed more light into qualifying for IS.

ok thanks for that, i wasnt quite sure on a few things

i know a few years ago, a friend of mine claimed IS whilst her partner worked (living together not married) but she claimed in her own right just for her, although she did have 2 small boys at the time - i think as i type this the answer is the children, doh.

i just didnt know if i could claim in my own right.

i still cant get around in my head why originaly i was put in esa income, when i had worked for over 2 years (part time 20 hours a week) but working for an agency continually in work prior to that for a few years, its stumped me going onto cont based.

the NIC's confused me (still do)

i guess i can't 'sign off' esa income and then claim esa cont?
i'm not getting out of the i cant be bothered to work, just right now i am struggling to cope with everyday living let alone working (although if someone told me to start work monday i'd have a damn good try)

Sorry but I don't see in any of your posts that you already get DLA...

    You'll keep the DLA.

Remploy has non-supermarket placements too, and supermarkets have non-customer facing roles (reception, warehouse admin, regular admin, cleaning, repairs, home shopping etc).

Mupette, have you tried "up your income" board? I've started ebaying after some advice from that board and managed to get a bit of savings behind me that way.
