  • Morning Buffy x
When I was feeling really wrung out I found it hard to make myself eat properly which made my energy levels plummet even more. I read quite a lot about the links between nutrition and mental health, especially as I have been veggie for more than 20 years and never really looked after myself properly, I wondered if there was a link.
When I was signed off work, I made myself a huge vat of veg soup with cous cous in, blended it and froze it in portions and also made a bowl of fruit salad to keep in the fridge. I made myself eat it at regular intervals but it didn't over-face me as it was not a big plate to wade through. I think it made a massive difference to re-balancing my system. I also take brewers yeast tablets from Holland&Barretts which have loads of good stuff in which I think is missing from my diet (they are big b*ggers though!)

I hope you soon start to feel better as you have so much going for you. Is it history that you teach? It was my plan to do that but I fell pregnant with my son (now 15 (eek!)) just after I graduated with my history degree and I don't really feel I have the confidence to do it now. I wouldn't swap my children for the world but I wish I could get my brains going again!

Hope you have managed to sleep and that you have a good day x

Buffy i and my friends have used Evening Primrose tablets to help mitigate the effects of PMT, they help my friend so much that if her OH realises she's down to the last one he will literally drive 20miles to get her a new pot they make that much difference.

I also think should is one of the worst words in the entire dictionery it leads to us feeling so bad about ourselves because in most peoples lives we can never stand a chance of living up to what we 'should' be doing/ achieving.
  • I have toothache, not a little niggly ouch but a "something has boken and is sending shocking amounts of pain a long your jaw" toothache.

I am so !!!!ed off with being in pain and being miserable, being judged and oh yes my period finally showed up today as well and anyone who says you can't feel pain in two places is a bloody liar.

I am going to take some pain killers. (only two don't panic!) and just I don't know. do something.
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Buffy, if you feel like this, are you sure you're ready to go back?

    Rosa xx

No I don't but I am going to just because I don't think more time indoors will really help. I can't stop feeling guilty.

Funny isn't it, I am so envious of people with kids. I wish I had had some. teaching is enjoyable and can be fulfilling but it isnt always that great to be honest. I do wonder how many teachers kid themselves the training they are giving is actually life changing or even enhancing....oo controversial! The best thing is the obviously the kids but the hoops you jump through are utterly mental.

I have some of those tablets. find it difficult to swallow them but think with all the good things I hear I should take them.

    thanks folks xxx

  • I think it's human nature to wonder 'what if?' I know what you mean about other peoples' judgements and expectations. I grew upon a council estate and was the first in my family to go to uni and get a degree...When I fell pregnant I was shell shocked and when my baby was born it was fairly clear that he had special needs (possibly as a result of birth complications.) I chose then to work around his needs rather than try and be superwoman and I think I have done an ok job. My boy has dyspraxia but is also gifted and doing really well at grammar school and he is kind, thoughtful and well balanced. My daughter is also bright and funny and lovely. My achievement is having two healthy happy children, I've tried to combine it with a demanding job but I can't as it makes me ill. I can't worry any more about what others think of me, I can only do my best, it's all any of us can do I reckon xx Dont under-estimate your talents and achievements either Buffy, I think you are fab x

  • Northern Lassy you are lovely. You have no clue how much your post means to me and your kids sound wonderful. Thank you xxxx

Been thinking...................(stop yawning at the back there)

    Plan A

    1) Declutter (I sorted a drawer today and found about 3 things to e bay if I could be arsed) and have a proper ( not half arsed attempt)clear out of my crap. AND GET ORGANISED. !!!!!!. big problem. Needs solving.

    2) Borrow 5000 pounds to pay for teeth and Masters.

    3) Pay off above as soon as possible. (so surveys, cost cutting, e baying, music magpie, Green met etc)

4)Cut down hours at second job I am too tired working 12 hours each day.

    5) Budget

    6) Update my CV and keep an eye out for jobs from Feb onwards.

    7) Save as much money as I can. in as many ways as I can for a house deposit

    Plan B

    1. Declutter (see above)
well actually most of plan b is the same! apart from no.7

Borrow 20,000 pounds as a house deposit.

I do not want to wait not the 2 years it will take...........but no concrete decision made as yet. lots of variations could borrow less and save more etc and of course it depends on house prices etc.

However I WILL NOT put myself in debt lightly. It would have to be for the right house or decision re my future (say if I met a man it does happen apparently)

ok must go to bed now. Feel a bit sick to be honest but think it is the tooth ache.

    night all

    xxxx

Thankyou Buffy x My children are a bit quirky but apparently 'interesting' to teach!
One last random thought before bedtime...We live in a house on a memorial village which was built to honour and rehabilitate soldiers after WW1. We are doing a community project about its history and a neighbour told me that Doris Stokes (celebrated 'medium') lived here in the 1980s. I read her books over the summer for research, and the thing which I remember making most sense to me ( am not sure about the psychic stuff) was that she found that people nowadays seem to assume that they had a god-given right to be happy...got me thinking that the media sells us the perception that we can and should have it all...in my experience people rarely do xxx

I realise that not many posts ago I suggested cutting your work hours, but one thing has occurred to me. Do you need those earnings to be counted towards your income for mortgage purposes in order to buy a house in your area? I remember I needed to stay full time to secure a big enough mortgage. Six months after moving in, I cut my hours. I was still able to make the repayments (alas, I don't have an extravagant lifestyle) so it shouldn't have mattered to the lender, but sometimes lenders focus on multiples of income rather than affordability.

Of course you may value your sanity higher than the house, particularly if you go for plan A.
Mortgage, draw down Sept 2014: £222,000

    Now: £173,229

As with all things do your research. Remember you don't HAVE to stay in the area you are. How about borrowing 7000 pounds, paying for your masters, your teeth, and going to see you sister in the US for xmas?:D

Then you could look at job opportunities over there whilst you were there. You have no need to tie yourself to anywhere. Yes your mum is a worry, but she has your sister to help out etc...

I don't think this job is doing you any good, so definitely brush of your cv and start looking. But look everywhere. Hell there are teaching posts in New Zealand and Australia that might have your name on them....

The last thing you want at the moment is for another 2 or 5 years to go by, and you haven't progressed. So yes make a plan, set yourself measurable realistic goals to achieve them remember make the S.M.A.R.T
    And then go for it.

good luck, I hope the st johns wort, and primrose oil work. And TELL YOUR DOCTOR how you are still feeling when you see her today
    chev
I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Blue are being interviewed on Channel 5. Oh they are funny. I don't like their music but they are clearly excellent at taking the !!!! out of themselves.

Any way. That bit of hiliarity over with I am tackling the room of doom. I haven't wanted to do this at all. However it is the beginning of some changes I want to make. so I had best get on with it.
