Caravan, camping and holiday cookery

As the others have said google the local tesco/asda and meal plan. When we head down to Somerset I stop half way at a Tescos half way and stock up.
Also buy treats for the kids so you dont have to spend so much on site.:j0 -
Salt, pepper, vinegar, sauces, sugar, cooking oil and washing up liquid are ALL things that I resent buying in supermarkets away from home. They are always much more expensive in holiday resorts than locally. If you have a way of taking washing up liquid and cooking oil in really secure containers, then I would do that. If I have to buy them away from home, I really RESENT having to leave them behind. We stay next door to a Youth Hostel and I take all our stuff there on the final morning.0

There should be a local store, spar or coop etc, in the town that might be cheaper then on site.:j0

Thats the one I stayed at. It's very nice, but it's massive so be prepared for a walk to the onsite shop!! And has a very nice on-site spa (not very MSE though!).
There is a bus service that runs through the park but not sure if it stops by the Tesco, but it does go into Exmouth town centre. Think the info is on the Haven website bout the buses.

There is a tesco in the town, and I think there are buses that go from close to the site entrance, into town. Its a bit of a trek on foot, but if you did tesco and each had a bag to carry back on the bus its do-able. Just double check your bedding for the break. When we booked it said the bedding was included, but when we got there we had to pay £10 deposit which was returned when you took the linen back on the saturday. I know its only a tenner, but I hadnt budgeted for it and was annoyed it wasnt mentioned at booking.
Enjoy your break!!!0 -
I booked it through a vendor on ebay so it was over £100 cheaper and had everything included apart for bedding.
Bedding costs £25 for the week.
Haven charge for EVERYTHING ,£20 for a microwave ,£10 for a bed rail ect:eek:
Thank you all for the help ,It's not for 6 weeks yet:o but I like to be prepared.
I am glad there is a Tesco relatively near buy as I find I end up spending a fortune on food that I could spend on entertainment.
I am really looking forward to this Holiday,I think there will be enough stuff going on to keep my Daughter happy, which is difficult as she is an only child and also a teenager ,and I feel immense guilt that she is lonely and bored a lot of the time(not just on holiday).0 -
You can take your own bedding (I did) but if you haven't got car then that might just be bit too much extra luggage to take for you all.
Enjoy your hols

Your daughter will have a great time, plenty to do on site and she will make friends and be off exploring in no time. The beach is nice, but a bit of a walk and very steep hill to get down to it. We went down with picnic and plenty of drinks and stayed there for a while, not a hill you would want to be going up and down every 5 minutes!0 -
Just found this thread but as I'm due back at work, I'll read it all tonight.
I just wanted to say thanks to all for what looks like a little ray of light in my very long, dark tunnel of despair.
