From 9 February the free coffee etc disappears - sign up now saying that a cafe purchase is required to get the free drink.

No cafe in our Waitrose, so wonder if that's no more coffee?

I'll have to check our store to see if there is any information.

I have not taken the free coffee for a while but we do not have a caf! so wonder if it will still apply.

Oh no, I would really miss my cup of coffee:( My store doesn't have a cafe either.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

You may still be OK. According to the sign, the machine coffees will still be free. The only one I've ever tried was pretty horrible, though!

Just read about this on another thread :(
My local Waitrose has a caf! but also has the take-away machines. Sadly the machines don't offer soya milk which means people like me wont be able to get a free coffee/tea unless we opt for it to be black which is a shame as I really valued this offer.

Can I be a bit cheeky here and ask- if anyone here is lactose intolerant -or if you are bored enough and/or feel enough for those of us who are, do you think if we all en-mass contacted Waitrose (email, phone, Twitter....etc) to mention our disappointment at the lack of soya being offered now we can no longer use the cafes, that they may start to offer soya milk alongside the normal milk so we can all take up the offer again?

I wouldn't even mind paying say 10p or something towards the cost. Buy buying an entire carton to lug around all day just doesn't seem like such a great plan...
  • It says in the Times today that, for the takeaway coffees, you will only get a cup to get your free coffee from the machine once you have bought something from Waitrose. And that if you want one from the cafe, you also have to buy something from the cafe.

<awaits thread working out what the cheapest thing Waitrose sell is to keep getting the 'free' coffees>

I'm not surprised really. A free daily coffee without spending anything is enormously generous and probably not sustainable in the long term.

the sign in our waitrose does not mention having to spend anything in-store to get the takeaway!! better save some cups then!
