I just think this whole incident shows how selfish and egocentric the public can be, same with this me me me now now now culture.
It's sick, makes me feel awful about the country I'm growing up in.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Just seen on the news that a womans crate full of personal items being shipped to South Africa where she's moved to was being (or least attempting to be) looted.. Thats just a disgrace, someones personal gear..I can understand maybe stuff like nappies and stuff like that, stuff that can be easily replaced - even though I don't condone it.0

just to say that the 2 links in this thread that go to ebay , i just checked and they have been removed from ebay ...Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!0

I don't think any of the materials on the ship were actually hazardous. I think they just said that to try and stop people taking what they can get their hands on.
Congrats to the people who got the bike! Jammy gits.0 -

If individuals hadn't salvaged it then an international salvage company would have. Either way it was salvage and probably down to an insurance company.
It seems people would much rather a large profiteering company claimed the salvage in the hope of making a lot of money.
The salvage company is doing the same thing as the individuals, both are in the same legal position and have the same rights yet somehow its considered right and proper if you do it as a companies employee but looting and stealing if you do it as an individual.
The law is the law and this was a salvage situation.0 -
I'm amazed. There are so many scumbags around who think its ok to take other peoples stuff.0

dunno if been posted but 4 of the containers was full of one familys belongings that they were shipping abroad after emigrating(sp)
aint sayin that i wouldn't get a few items if i was there but how would you feel if your house went up in flames and lost everything or you left ya front door open and folks were just walking in and taking things.
yeah they might have insurance but nothing can replace items that are passed down from generation to generation.
it's these people that i feel sorry forif you like say thanks :j0 -
Surely anyone with a conscience should return any items they have taken, I think its despicable that the beach wasnt protected straight away from looters........scumbags indeed, we all love a freebie but this is just a step too far, it is burglary and theft regardless of laws that are 200 years old. I hope ebay are going to trace the listings and recover some goods xxThis above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.
