There's a lot of !!!! washing up there and someone's going to have to foot the bill for it short term and I suspect an abnormal portion of that burdon will also fall on the locals
The scavengers are NOT ridding the beach of salvage though...they are ripping open containers to see what they can get for themselves and anything they dont want is left strewn all over the beach.
If the containers had been left alone, most of the contents would be still inside, not scattered all over the place which is now either going to get washed into the sea, and create more problems, or someone is going to have to clear up the mess those people made for their own greed.0 -
Indeed pennylane - the MCA says the scavenging has "quadrupled" their task of the clean up. Judging from the accents on TV they're mainly not local people either. I'm sure the locals are also fed up with these hordes of vermin descending on the town on top of all the mess too.
Can't looters be shot?0 -
Yes I was watching a local Devon news report, where a bloke with a liverpudlian accent was rumminging through a container which has someones personal effects...the reported asked him if he thought what he was doing wasmorally wrong his answer. Nah its on the beach im not stealing it its free!!! things like whole bikes can not be put on the road even if they are fixable because they are not registered. There are bags and bags of nappies strewn all over the once beautiful beaches. The police have now set up a cordon and are stopping people from taking things..I expect out council tax will shoot up in the new year to help cover the cost of the clean up operation.0

lmao oldmcdonald - that was amusing-I've changed the link for you
But I gotta say - the greed of those people is astounding when you consider the fact that they've quadrupled the work needed for the cleanup.if you don't have anything nice to say, keep schtum.
